    Business Response

    Date: 03/03/2023

The patient had a telehealth appointment to review her labs. The patient tested positive for ** and was advised before her medication was submitted, she needed to return to the office for a pregnancy test. The patient stated that it is a significant inconvenience as she needs to go to work and is positive that she is not pregnant. She asked provider to put a decline of a pregnancy test on file; that is when she got nasty and hung up on the patient.

The provider asked the Clinical Practice Manager (CPM) to call the patient (pt).

CPM, called pt per pt's request. Pt was very upset and stated she should not have to come in the office to do a urine pregnancy test. Pt stated she feels the option of what medications will be offered should be discussed at the visit. Pt stated she will not come to give a urine preg test and feels that the provider refused to give her the ******** pill because she won't do the preg. test that is protocol.

CPM attempted several times to calm the patient and explain that to be given Rx Diflucan for her yeast infection, the safe practice of care is to do a pregnancy test as Diflucan should not be prescribed if the patient may be pregnant. The safe practice is to do the pregnancy test to rule out that risk factor.
