    On May 2, 2024, my daughter-in-law, my significant other, and I applied for residency at Eland Downe Townhomes. The application process required $173.95 in credit check and payment processing fees. Additionally, a $300 holding deposit, along with a $7.95 convenience fee for security deposit processing, was required before approval.On May 10, 2024, I received a denial of residency notification citing "credit" as the reason. Despite the denial, the holding deposit was not refunded, and repeated attempts to address the issue with the property manager went unanswered. After months without resolution, I gave the property management three days to provide a clear timeline for refunding my deposit or face legal action. They failed to respond satisfactorily, leaving me no choice but to file a formal complaint in court.Rather than resolve the matter, the property management chose to file an intent to defend. On September 19, 2024, a hearing was held, but neither Eland Downe Townhomes nor their parent company, ************************, sent a representative. As a result, a judgment of $1,053.95 was entered in my favor. Since that date, I have received no communication, payment, or updates regarding the case.Upon reviewing ****** Reviews, I discovered that my experience was not unique. Many others have reported similar incidents involving the companys refusal to refund deposits. This pattern of behavior reflects a troubling practice of exploiting individuals, particularly during a time when financial losses of this magnitude can mean the difference between securing housing or not. I would caution against seeking housing at this property or the property across the street also owned by ******. I gave one star because I could not give a negative star rating which is what they deserve.
