I have glass fireplace doors that swing open. The one on the right side broke about the Spring of 2022. The left side one is fine. I took the remaining door to a fireplace shop to see if they would be able to repair it. They couldn't, but they highly recommended Kimbertin Glass, a glass place in northern Chester County. I stopped by and talked to the guy, ***, who seems to be a one man shop. He said supplies were delayed and it would take 6-8 weeks. I was a little concerned that the place looked like a junkyard and I was wondering how he would even keep track of it. I didn't receive a receipt or anything in writing. He quoted me $160. I left the left door there so he could match it up, as well as the hardware from the broken door. I've been calling every few weeks since then. In the beginning, he would return my calls but for the last 6 months he's completely ghosted me. One day I happened to have a weekday off and stopped by around lunchtime. There was another guy looking for him as well. I waited for a while but had to leave to do other things. The other guy stayed and said he'd pass on my message to ***. He took my number to keep me updated. I got a text from him that he saw *** and *** said, "He was about to call me to update me and that the glass that came in was the wrong kind so it had to be reordered." But there was no direct follow-up with me. This story sounds unbelievable. But I'm relieved that he allegedly has the existing door I left. I was sure he was avoiding my calls because he lost it. I really don't want to have to take a day off work and just camp out there to find him there in person and ask for my door back. All my calls go him go directly to voicemail.
