      I used this company for tax preparation in the years 2020 and 2021. I am now being told those years need ammended as we paid too much in taxes. Unfortunately the fees went up for the tax preparation but the work was done incorrectly. It is now costing us mine with a short time to recover this possible loss. Its been over a week, multiple emails and no response. Hopefully you can help with this. Thanks

      Hi ******, we have not met before as I started here after
      you had moved away from the firm, but I am leading the tax group now and wanted
      to make sure I addressed your concern below. 

      I apologize these expenses were missed.  Looking at
      the old files from those years, it seems like your Schedule C Income/Expenses
      were handwritten notes rather than a full trial balance for the business, so I
      am not surprised some of these other expenses were missed.  Regardless,
      we’re happy to amend these 2 returns for you in order to claim those expenses
      and get those additional refunds for you.  If you can provide the totals
      of payroll taxes paid (perhaps your current CPA has already totaled those?),
      then we can add those payroll taxes to your deduction and re-run those 2
      returns for you.  Some of these can be determined from Erica’s W-2, others
      cannot so it’ll be easiest if you can provide us a summary/breakdown of the
      expenses.  Neither year can be e-filed at this point, but we can provide
      copies that you can mail into the IRS/PA/Local.

      Since these are items we could have discussed with you
      and/or caught at the time of filing, we’ll of course prepare these amended
      returns at no cost.  The 2020 return will need to be filed by 10/15/24 in
      order to qualify before the statute of limitations runs out.  Please
      provide those figures at your earliest convenience and we’ll get the amended
      returns taken care of.

      My wife and I were customer’s for tax preparation for tax
      years 2020 and 2021. Lastnight I spoke to my accountant and he let me know our
      2020 and 2021 taxes we prepared incorrectly. They should be amended or figure
      out a way to recover that loss.  

      Per our accountant:

      Erica's employer
      taxes for the salon were not reported by your prior preparer on either the 2020
      and 2021 return. 

      Essentially, the 941 taxes are paid 50% by the employer and
      50% by the employee (via paycheck deduction) so half of those should have been
      listed as Taxes on Erica's Schedule C. Also, the annual 940 taxes and UC-2
      quarterly unemployment taxes (mostly paid by employer), though smaller amounts,
      should have also been included. This amount would have subject to 15.3%
      self-employment taxes and regular income tax of roughly 10% in your case, so we
      would potentially get over $3k refunded for 2022 Federal and there would be a
      small refund for state and local as well. The amounts for 2020 and 2021, should
      you choose to amend, would be somewhat less due to payroll being a bit lower.


      We were very upset how our relationship transpired then
      abruptly ended with your company. Although the costs went up each year for the
      preparation, looks like the work was incorrectly filed.

      We are in a tough position and we could use all the help we
      can get.

      Since this correspondence, Tom with the company in question got all the preparation together with the appropriate changes and submitted everything back to me. It was completed quickly- thanks for your help!
