We are current residents at this apartment complex, but have decided to not extend our lease after the lease ends on June 3. Our apartment complex sent us an NTV Acknowledge Letter stating that our remaining balance we'd need to pay for our May and June rent was $1248.17. Our normal rent amount is about $1820 per month, plus $14 for an asset protection fee (Our Complexes Renter's Insurance) and $50 for pet rent. In addition, of our monthly utility bill that does change depending on our consumption for that month. But per the NTV Acknowledgement, we were only to pay $1248.17 instead of our normal rent plus our asset protection fee and pet rent. Our apartments payment portal was down for transitioning to a new system, so for May we were to pay by Check or Money Order. We wrote 2 checks, one for the amount of our rent per the NTV Acknowledgment and one for the utilities we were billed that month. We provided the NTV Acknowledgement and Utilities Bill in the envelope with our checks for the complexes awareness to what we were paying.

Shortly after our rent payment was due, our new payment portal came online and we noticed that we noticed a balance of $622.70, which included a $10 trash fee and a $50 storage unit fee. Our trash fee is included in our Utilities bill and we do not have a storage unit that we are renting. Upon trying to contact the front office by email, phone and in-person we have been unable to get in contact with anyone. Our apartment complex has disconnected their phone lines and the staff has all either quit or refusing to come into the office. We've resulted to contacting the management company AION Management, who also refuses to help us with this issue. Unfortunately, we are at a loss are we have paid what we were told to pay and we are still being charged for other items and rent prices that go against the NTV Acknowledgment we were provided by our complex management.

I am currently apartment hunting and toured the cosmopolitan around early March. During the tour the leasing agent specifically said that there was a $200 apartment reservation fee that could be reimbursed anytime up to 3 days after my application had been approved and accepted. The leasing agent stressed that the 3 day grace period to pull the application was after I had been approved to rent the apartment, and that I could pull the application with no penalty any time before the 3rd day. On March 15th I submitted part of the application and paid the $200 fee ($208 after the convenience fee) and my application was pending approval. I chose to pull my pending application on March 28th as the leasing agent was being very unclear about the remainder of the process, and was asking for personal information to be transferred in an unsecure manner, as well as ignoring my inquiries about adding a registered emotional support animal. As I asked to pull my application I also asked for a reimbursement of my $200 fee as the application had not been approved yet, meaning I was still within the previously stated time frame. The leasing agent told me that the 3 day period to be reimbursed was 3 days after the application had been submitted and that they would not reimburse me for it, in spite of their previous statements.
