I hired contractor for a kitchen remodel. I paid 33,000 by 3 checks of 11,000. Worked started in May 2023. The Kitchen remodel contract stated they would install new water lines to sink and dishwasher. They installed 2 cold water lines, so no hot water to sink or dishwasher. They were to install dishwasher, it is not secured to anything and moves when run. They moved HVAC vent and no air moves through vent so no heat or ac in kitchen. There is an electric wire hanging from the ceiling above washer in basement. They were to install new wall plugs, they used the old boxes. They were to install new baseboards that matched rest of the house baseboards and installed unfinished baseboards that are different size that the other baseboards. Dave requested $400 reimbursement for a bar sink that cost $90, I refused and he threatened to damage the house by ripping out the sink.

I added 3 new boxes and plugs. I used new boxes for the new plugs and left existing boxes as they were. The dishwasher was secured to the side of the cabinet. I uncovered the existing HVAC vent that she said she had covered before. She told me that it was in working order. The wire that as hanging in the basement was there. It was not in the contract to do anything with it. It wasn’t in the contract to paint or stain anything. She was going to paint and stain. I installed the baseboard that she approved before I installed it.

I bought the bar sink that she was supposed to reimburse me for. I installed her water purifier system under the bar sink. I installed a new water line to a new refrigerator. This was what the extra $400.00 was for.

Jeanne was fine with all the work that I did until she wanted a backsplash installed for no charge. I told here that a backsplash was not in our contract and there would be an extra charge for that. She became irate and started yelling and demanding that I do the backsplash for no charge. I refused and she said she was not going to pay the final payment until I installed a backsplash. I then told her I would remove the sink that I payed for and take her to the magistrate. She payed the final payment and signed the contract. She has not contacted me with any issue since the last day I saw her. She is angry because I would not do the backsplash for free.
