Terrible billing system. They over charge. You can't get anyone on the phone to discuss the problem with you.

We have addressed your concerns with our billing vendor that does patient billing for the hospital regarding the difficult time you had getting in touch with someone to review your account and apologize for the difficulty you encountered. We have also reviewed both of your accounts that occurred in July 2024 and in August 2024.On 7/30/24 your service was performed without a specialized lens. Your insurance processed the claim for date of service 7/30/24 and applied $300 copay as your responsibility. You have already paid for the co-pay and balance is at zero.On 8/20/24 you had the same service, except you had a specialized lens. The cost of the specialized lens is $1185.00. Insurance companies do not cover the specialized lens. The patient is only required to pay $355.00 at the time of service. The $355.00 that you paid, went towards the cost of the specialized lens. Then your insurance processed your claim for date of service 8/20/24 and also applied another $300 co-pay for 8/20/24. If you did not have a specialized lens, then you would only be responsible for the $300.00 co-pay.

God forbid a person pays st clair in installments without setting up a payment plan, life can get in the way. We paid so significant amounts on it each time bill actually arrived. Hospital cannot use their brains or just doesn't care since instead of sending bills consistently, calling a couple of times, and/or sending something saying they want full payment with a bill. Every other bill not tied to st clair but to what was done at hospital knew what paying on a regular basis means and sent bills out til paid off. Even without asking for payment plan. So, st clair then places bill with credit agency since they, themselves do not know or care to use their minds. If they cannot or refuse to do so, then what kind of treatment do they provide? I pray that my family will be safe for any emergency that may take us to their hospital as no other alternative. The reviews should offer negative stars, though they must not want to show how negatively the hospital has really affected people.......

We are requesting additional information to investigate this issue as we are not seeing any open claims on our side. It appears that we do not have record of any open accounts for this guarantor in our system. Thank you

I transferred to this hospital late in my pregnancy and gave birth a month earlier than expected. Everyone did an excellent job of helping to manage my anxiety while giving birth to a premature baby. The nurses and doctors listened to me and treated me with the utmost respect and dignity.

The billing department has gone downhill. I received a bill for over $300 for my annual visit to my doctor which we have never received before. I called them and they said they had to send it to a review board??? I called my insurance company who states we owe $54 I told them that but to the review board they said. I have emailed to try and get resolution with no response at all. I am now going to mail the bill in with the $54 and documentation from my insurance company with proof of what we owe. This should not be this hard. I feel bad for people that would just pay the bill without question. Also, recently getting appointments for testing has become impossible - I need an Echo cardiogram called in April and was told August was the soonest - I have since scheduled with Allegheny Health Network - so nice to deal with and was given an appointment within 2 weeks. I always loved St. Clair and used to work there - I am not sure what is going on and who is managing this hospital anymore.

I used to recommend St. Clair to friends and family. Anymore the bedside manor , attitudes and just flat out being disrespectful towards patients. Also a big problem is the fact that nurses speak freely about other patients while standing outside of the room. I really feel that even though you're short staffed, that it is truly not any patients fault.
