The Public Parking Authority of Pittsburgh has a somewhat good app (when hackers don’t penetrate and steal our information) called Go Mobile PGH which used to be a convenient tool to pay for parking without resorting to running to the parking meter whenever the time was about to expire. Until recently all went well, then all of sudden the app removed my bank card which was saved for payment. Conveniently left my old expired cards on the app. When I went to update, the only mobile payment accepted is now PayPal. In what society is this acceptable? I have received a $25 ticket because I was unable to recover my PayPal account info to setup, and did not have coins at that time. Low and behold, the citation payment website will welcome payments with my debit card. How convenient for them to not allow me to pay the parking meter with my debit card but will accept it for payment of a higher fine. This is disingenuous and a bad faith business practice that has to be reported.

    RE: ID#********

    Dear Ms. *****,
This letter is in response to your letter of 11/5/22 regarding ID# ******** in which a customer stated he was unable to pay for a parking session using the Go Mobile Pgh app.

Please be advised that Go Mobile Pgh is an app powered by ParkMobile Inc., an approved vendor of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority. Customers establish their account with ParkMobile directly and not through the Pittsburgh Parking Authority. ParkMobile obtains and houses the necessary customer information including credit card numbers. At no point does the Pittsburgh Parking Authority store, update, edit or remove any information within this app.

Since the Pittsburgh Parking Authority was not involved in the removal of the customers banking information I cannot comment on what actually transpired in this case. My recommendation would be that the customer reach out to ParkMobile directly at 1-******* **** to review their account and make the necessary updates needed to allow continued use of app.

I can confirm however that ParkMobile does not limit payment sources to PayPal only. Customers have the option through ParkMobile of paying using all major credit cards.

If the customer believes that the ticket they received was in error, they have the option of scheduling a hearing to dispute it by calling the Pittsburgh Parking Court at ###-###-#### or on-line at www.pittsburghparking.com.

    Sincerely,
