    On Dec 18, 2023, I went into the Loan Company to purchase a piece of jewellery and when I did not find what I was looking for I decided on purchasing something else. I came across a 10k large link bracelet that Sam G***** quoted me a price well above eight hundred dollars but in the end he came down to seven hundred and forty nine dollars in which I agreed. But when I decided to where the bracelet five days later I now realized it was not 10k but gold plated. You could pick up the bracelet with a magnet. I was heart broken that this reputable business of 63 years was lying to customers just to turn a profit. I have been buying quality pieces of jewelry for years and I don't mind buying a little costume jewelry here and there. But if that is what their selling then they need to separate what is real and what is fake. The receipt says 30 day guarantee but the bottom of the receipt says sales final no refunds. The problem is I never would have bought it if I knew up front Sam G***** was selling junk.

    Gelman Loan Co. is a pawn shop selling used merchandise located at 6490 Frankstown Ave in East Liberty.
    We have been in this current location since 1968.  On December 18, 2023 customer, purchased
    a gold bracelet for $749.  Gelman Loan was closed for holiday from December 24, 2023 until January 2, 2024.


    On January 2, 2024 the customer came in upset that the bracelet we sold was not gold.  We immediately refunded her $749 to her credit card.  We were not open on 12/29/2023 when she filed the complaint.  If we had been, the refund would have been taken care of at that time. We do stand by our merchandise and do guarantee. 


    We have a good reputation and work hard to maintain that.
