The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven. On April 28, 2025 the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office announced that charges have been filed against Patrick Vereb, owner of Vereb Funeral Home and Eternity Pet Memorial for improperly disposing of thousands of pets which owners paid for cremations, burials, returns of ashes, and other services.
According to the investigation, it is alleged that between 2021 and 2024, Mr. Vereb took money from pet owners in exchange for private cremation services, but instead disposed of the animals in a landfill. He then gave the owners ashes that came from other unknown animals and pocketed the money. Vereb is accused of stealing more than $650,000 from grieving pet owners.
