  On March 25, 2023, we found mice droppings and a mouse nest in our indoor, climate controlled storage unit. We rented there for 2 years while looking for a house, and pay about $300/month for our belongings to be safe and secure. Guardian Storage says they have pest control come once a month, but obviously something was overlooked or ignored. It happened between December 2022 and March 2023. Mattresses, baby gear, furniture, washer/dryer, camping gear, sentimental items were all ruined. We did have insurance through Guardian for protection up to 2K, but the damage exceeded that. They offered to get us a dumpster but we were in charge of the clean-out and disposal of items. They wanted to take the dumpster cost out of our claim, even though other tenants could also use the dumpster, and we were told to use the dumpster fast before it fills up. We told the manager that we shouldn't have to pay for that, and we did convince them to not charge us. They also were supposed to get us a truck that day, but didn't have one available, so we had to drive to another facility. We hired a junk removal company to remove the items, and were able to save a small portion of it (mostly outdoor gear). I would not recommend Guardian Storage because 1) they have a pest problem, 2) their customer service was lacking when handling this claim 3) they made promises that they did not keep 4) they did not tell the neighboring tenants about the infestation, even though their units are not completely separated from ours. I bet that they will try to get as much money out of everyone and cover up this problem.

  We appreciate your feedback and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced at Guardian Storage. We take great pride in our customer service and sincerely regret to hear your experience was not satisfactory. Guardian Storage contracts year-round with 3rd party pest control providers to perform routine service on our property to aid in the prevention of rodent issues. In the rare event of an issue, we work diligently with our vendor partners to remedy the issue as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, these routine preventative maintenance measures are not always verifiable given that we do not have access to occupied storage spaces. As an added layer of protection, Guardian Storage requires all tenants to carry personal property damage coverage for their belongings while in storage. We highly recommend purchasing our in-house Protection Plan for up to $5,000 of personal property loss. In situations where your personal property is valued higher than $5,000, we strongly encourage tenants to supplement our Protection Plan coverage with a Homeowners or Renters policy. Our Protection Plan covers the amount of the loss and excludes disposal and movement of goods. We apologize again for this unfortunate experience and appreciate your feedback so that we may work to ensure that we meet and/or exceed expectations.
