I moved to Pittsburgh 2.5 months ago and I am horrified by Pittsburgh Water. Unfortunately, they are a monopoly even though they say that you can have a different provider because it's all managed through Pittsburgh Water. At ********, when they bill correctly, they charge TWICE as much for water and sewerage compared to ********* and ************, which doesn't make any sense. They messed up my first bill and charged me $149 for 2 weeks of water. It's taken 2 months and hundreds of phone hours to get this resolved. I had scheduled an appointment to get my meter checked (and took a day off of work) and nobody ever showed up or called. The people who answer the calls (and cannot really be characterized as customer service) don't know anything. They make things up, they're rude, they "disconnect" when they're stumped by a simple question. You can answer a survey, and leave a message after a call. I've done that several times and requested a call back. Nobody ever calls back. It's incredibly unfortunate that I'm stuck with this nonsense and it's absurd that this monopoly on a basic necessity should be permitted to exist and treat people this way.

PWSA's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) sent me a request for for an appointment to check their equipment in my house. I was to respond within five (5) business days of receipt of this letter; the letter was dated August 10, 2023. However, the letter arrived at my address on August 22, 2023 - 12 days after it was dated. Three (3) business days later, August 25, 2023, I received a second letter from AMI threatening to shut off my water since I had not responded to their first letter. And their shut off date was 08/25/2023, the day I received this letter! Even worse, the second letter was dated August 15, 2023, only five (5) days or three (3) business days after their first letter. This second letter took ten days to reach me. The second letter was sent even before I would have had time to respond to the first.Much is wrong with the way PWSA and AMI are acting toward their customers.
