We originally contracted with DCI to do some patching to our driveway as well as seal coat when completed. We just had finished an extensive renovation of the exterior of our home including new siding and garage doors. On October 6th, DCI sent two men to our home ( who appeared to be very unprofessional) to commence work. These men ended up causing thousands of dollars of damage to our siding, trim work and garage doors. Out of three patches, two were sort of done. One by the end of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk was poured too high and caused a tripping hazard . The other patch that caused the damage to our home was done unevenly, causing more tripping hazard and pooling of water due to improper work. The other patch was just not done at all. We have spent weeks of back and forth with this company and finally had another company come in and perform remediation work. The new contractor was horrified to see what was done to our driveway and our home. DCI refuses to pay for any damage that was done, despite being provided with numerous pieces of evidence and extensive photos. DCI has gone so far to send us an invoice and demand payment for work for that wasnt even done completely.

I have used this company for many years. On April 19, 2023 they seal coated my driveway for $595 and a bill was left at the property. The bill mentions no surcharge for credit card. On May 4, 2023, I received a phone call from the company requesting payment. I work next door and said that I would walk over. The female said that she could take a credit card over the phone and said the total charge was $595. I supplied my card number and saw on my credit card statement a charge of $612.85. I personally went to the business and was told that my bill was the old print and did not list a surcharge. I requested a refund of the surcharge. I was told they would get back to me and they never did. I emailed the company again asking for a refund of the surcharge before I made a complaint to BBB and dispute the charge with the credit card company. Again, I received no response.

A Credit card charge of 3% is standard for every business that plans to except CC, the year is 2023. Some payment forms are 8 to  12 percent, ***** ect. We do not charge those fees or a a sales tax. We implemented this procedure last year as a standard policy. Its everywhere. The bank charges us processing fees so we pass them on as do all businesses we work with and all our suppliers. If the customer wishes to send us a check and we will be more then happy to reverse the charges. Checks are far easier to input, do not cost us man hours to input or the bank fee. We prefer a check.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response.  If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I would also like to add that they were not transparent with the fee, and it was not written anywhere on the invoice. Furthermore, this would have been immediately resolved if they would have offered this resolution when I first went into the business and complained.  Instead, they chose to ignore my attempts for a resolution.

    Regards,
