I had utilized *** for just about 3 years for my fathers 24/7 care. During our time there they had little to no communication with father or myself. I personally found one of the caregivers for my fathers case and that caregiver then brought on two additional employees who served them and my father faithfully. Recently, we found another agency that would offer more benefits and PTO to the caregivers so we opted to switch. One of the caregivers was having issues getting paid from *** anyways so it made sense to make the switch. This caregiver would work 76 hours a week and they would opt to only pay a portion of the ** she had worked. This happened for 5 of the last weeks that she worked there. A staff member from the office agreed to back pay the hours at straight time and give her a bonus; however, even that check came in wrong and didn't fully compensate her for her time. I personally got involved and tried to help bridge the gap however, the agency went silent and and still has not fully paid the caregiver for her time worked. Now mind you this is AFTER they asked this caregiver to take a pay cut too; which she did. They even tried to blame her for logging too many hours in row; mind you it's fine to have rules to keep clients and staff safe but the alternative option to the caregiver not staying is to then leave my father alone on a 24/7 case. This caregiver would never do that because she cares too much and the agency didn't care enough to send relief or work to help make a new schedule. Instead they just docked her hours.I know this industry is hard; for the agencies and the caregivers. So it makes it even harder when those two work against each other. Agencies treating caregivers poorly is never the answer. If they were to quit my father would be the one to pay the price.
