My son, new to owning/operating a motorcycle, called Larry J. Weiss Service Center in ************, ** near our home to ask if they could replace his 2 tires on his motorcycle. He spoke to the owner's daughter and said he did some online research and found it should cost about $300ish to which she replied "roughly." He dropped the cycle off 8/1/24 and we picked it up on 8/3/24. Between the time he dropped it off and picked it up, they never called to give him a quote, offer him various priced tires or for any other reason except on 8/2/24 to say it was ready for pick-up (never mentioned price). When we went to pick it up, the owner presented us the bill for $738.17. When I asked him why there was such a huge discrepancy between what was discussed with the daughter and my son and what we were charged he said that's the price and that my son must have misunderstood that it was around $300 per tire plus labor. I questioned why they never called with a quote and for authorization to proceed prior to doing the work-they didn't have an answer except "I'm not sure where you're from" or "We've been in business for 50 yrs". This is unscrupulous business practice. We never would have proceeded at that rate or we would have asked for less expensive tires at the least. I am seeking a partial refund and for this business to be investigated for their practices. I'd like to know out of the previous tire replacements they've done, how much others were charged, how they are communicating quotes to customers/potential customers, do they default to installing the most expensive tires w/o checking with customers first (he charged us $550 for the tires alone-see bill uploaded). Thank you for your assistance with this.

It was a simple misunderstanding between Ms. ******** son and I. When the son called he asked for a quote to install two tires on his ZX1100 motorcycle, as he is going on a long trip and need new tires, I told him it would be $50.00 for mount per tire, $15.00 for the balance per tire and $3.00 to get rid of the old tires totaling $68 per wheel, that is for the labor. Then he asked how much for the tires I said I had to look up prices for him and in the mean time he said he had been doing research "around $300.00?" I replied yes roughly. as you can see the tires we chose were roughly around $300.00 each, we chose this brand because he said he was going on a long trip and these are the recommended tires for a trip on that kind of machine. I believe Ms. ****** was under the assumption that the total bill would have been $300.00. We did not call with a quote because I had already given him a quote of $68.00 per tire and $300.00ish per tire. When they came to pick up the bike and were unsatisfied with the bill we offered to remove the tires and reinstall old ones free of charge and Ms. ****** opted out. We have been in business for over 50+ years and have never had an incident like this, we are a very highly known reputable business in this industry.
