They added a bit of time and cost to the project so that the crew could be mindful of a bed of freshly planted grass. Sadly, the new grass bed was destroyed and left with deep muddy trenches. Also, they had run their trucks into our hillsides, causing deep gouges. Their equipment in the adjacent yard sunk leaving more gouges.I explained our concerns and shared some photos and to my surprise, he was receptive to send someone out to lay seed and straw and even offered a credit of $300.00. They came out and dropped some seed and straw. Nothing was flattened back out or filled in. I guess we were supposed to be ok with grass growing back but in the deep trenches.I explained that we had already paid and how did he want to handle the credit. He said what he meant was a credit towards additional work. In what world is that actual compensation? I asked for someone at the main office I could speak with. This person apologized for all the damage caused by the crew. She asked if we would be okay with the $300.00 refund the other person had originally offered and said she would get back in touch with me. The next day she emailed me saying she could send a check. I replied and asked if they would be willing to turn a claim into their insurance. I also indicated, merely because we wanted the whole ordeal to be behind us, that if they were willing to refund us $600.00 to go towards the damage, we would consider the situation resolved.I sent an additional email, again suggesting that I would be receptive to them sending out someone to make the necessary repairs or filing an insurance claim and she responded that the matter had been addressed and considered closed. We were not looking for any sort of huge payout or making any outrageous claims. We simply wanted the damage they had created corrected.Would have been a completely different situation if we had simply waited and presented our concerns first. Sadly, I think they knew that and thats where they took advantage.
