      I joined Core Fitness for personal training and paid this establishment a total of $2894.65 as of September 1, 2023. On October 4, 2023 I called Core Fitness and asked how to cancel my membership, ******** told me I had to do so in person or mail a certified letter. October 5, 2023, I drove to Core Fitness and filled out the cancelation form to which ******** informed me there is a $50 cancelation charge. I told her I would email the gym as I did not think this applied to me being my concerns with returning to the gym were health related. I sent this email later that same day. On September 9, 2023, there was flooding and Core Fitness posted they were closed for cleaning the following day. To this day there is still dirt and bacteria present under the carpeting and black rubber flooring in the gym that I believe is a health risk. There are constantly buckets and trash bins scattered around to catch water from the ceiling leaking. Members of the gym have made the presence of black mold known to the owner but nothing has been done to rectify the problem. Additionally, the owner purchased torpedo heaters for the winter to avoid getting the main heating system fixed. These heaters give off fumes from the propane and are meant for heating garages or construction sites. They are often left unattended, which is a high fire risk especially on a carpeted floor. Many of the machines and equipment is not maintained properly or often marked out of order which is sooner or later going to result in injury. On February 24, 2024, I received a letter that Core Fitness has reported me to collections in the amount of $196.62, which I should not owe. I have not used the Core Fitness facility since before September 9th. With existing medical issues I have, I believe it was in my best interest to cancel the membership after the owner made the decision to not clean properly after the flooding. There is no way this establishment is a safe or healthy space for its members to use.

      To BBB representative,
      I thank you for your time and attention to review our response. 
      We were affected by the flooding that hit our area with devastating results to property and unfortunately person. One of our former members lost their lives during the storm and our thoughts and prayers remain with their families. 
      Our facility was flooded with ground water during that storm. Our response to rectify the issues was remarkable. Within 6 hours of the storm water seeping in the building, we were able to have 11 commercial dehumidifiers, 12 air circulating systems and 2 water removal systems in place. Within 10 hours, all ground water was effectively removed from all surfaces and humidity levels were below 90%, within 72 hours humidity levels were below 70% and within 5 days humidity levels were below 60%. At no time did water contact surfaces that would absorb moisture at the structural level (we are a metal structure, and drywall is properly seated 1 inch above ground level to avoid just this type of occurrence). The only moisture absorbing surface is a ***** sqft carpeted area that was treated 3 times within 24 hours. The roofing leak was repaired by a professional roofing company as soon as they were available, which I hope you understand took some time due to the widespread damage in the area to homes that was more pressing than ours. 
      Reviewing Ms. ************************* account, the account cancellation was handled properly by my staff and she is due and owing the amount that has been submitted to our collections company. As to the reason for her cancellation, I would like to clarify. ************************************* had an incident (allegedly) with a fellow member and her minor daughter at which time ************************************* repeatedly struck the minor in the head and called her a c#nt. Due to this incident (that occurred outside this facility), the other members no longer wished to have ************************************* present in the gym/ facility, and she canceled her membership accordingly.
