I have been a palliative patient for a number of months. I have lupus and a pancreatic tumor. I struggle with pain, sepsis, and kidney stones. I am at a point in my life where I dont want to have aggressive care and prefer to be at home and comfortable rather than be hospitalized. There are limited palliative programs so I was so thankful to have found pinnacle. I had a great RN for several months. She resigned in August. After she left, I didnt here from anyone. Weeks went by. I emailed a couple times. Finally I got a call from someone in leadership, long story short, it was clear that they were trying to get rid of me. I have been, in my opinion, abandoned without access to a doctor or pain meds. There appear to have been a number of process and what I believe to be regulatory failures. Additionally, there are professional clinical standards in my case that must be addressed. I just hope that any time I spend telling my story, emails available, will help at least one person. It is super hard to be a patient and to not feel well. Unfortunately, to many, heads in beds are revenue and palliative care is not lucrative.
