We enrolled our son an daughter in this course. The teacher is mean, and doesn't teach much. I went to talk to her about directions my son might go with the kind of art he was making (this was Open Studio). The teacher was resistant to even talking, and started saying bad things about my kid in the hallway in front of other parents and students. I directed her into the room, and tried to explain what I mean and asked how she might be able to guide my son. She said she did guide the other students, but couldn't help my son - she *lied* blaming my son for "hiding" his work so that she can't see it (and therefore she had no idea what my son was interested in or how to help him). She yelled at me and told me that I had my son in the wrong class, if I wanted him to receive any instruction. She was extremely combative and rude. She told me to take my son out and she'd give me a refund. I told her my son wanted to stay in no matter, because he has a friend there. The teacher then sent out an email, canceling the entire class, and passive aggressively blaming our son. She disparaged the art he likes (manga/anime) in the email to all of the class: "I DO NOT teach anime, manga, comics, or the copying of any legally copyrighted cartoons or characters including those in video games. That's not to say that there's necessarily anything wrong with any of those things if done with educational purpose, they are just not in my skill set. I'm sure there are other instructors out there who have that interest and skill set which you can pursue if that is what your child wants." The encounter was abusive, and traumatic for our son, who is not kicked out of art class. We removed our daughter as well, and expect a refund. Not a nice lady, and not a great art teacher.
