On Monday, October 2nd, 2023, I took my vehicle to this shop for a Pennsylvania state/emissions inspection. The shop told me I needed four new tires, new brake pads and rotors which would total $1,400. Knowing that I had recently had the rotors replaced, this alerted me. I took my vehicle to get a second opinion. After checking the vehicle, a family member of mine (an ex-mechanic) confirmed that I DID need new tires, but did NOT not need new rotors at all, and the pads should last me another 1000 miles. I replaced the tires for $310. This garage tried to gauge me for close to $1,100 thinking they could tell me anything about my car and I wouldn’t know better. In total, I paid the garage $43 for the “inspection”.

    To whom it may concern:

I would like to address the complaint filed on October 2nd, 2023, by ****************************

**** brought her car to us for a Pennsylvania State  inspection.  After inspection of the vehicle, we informed the customer that she would need 4 tires and to replace front brake pads and rotors to pass inspection requirements.

We recommend replacing front rotors with the brake pads to avoid brake noise and chatter.

We did give the option of only replacing the brake pads.

As for the tires, we quoted her a price on new ***** all season tires.  At the price she stated in her complaint, she must have purchased pre owned tires, which we do not offer here at ************ Automotive.

Please feel free to contact the office if you have any other questions or concerns.

I would also like to mention that our shop has an impeccable reputation and has been serving the Springfield community for over 43 years.  Our reviews speak for themselves, we give outstanding service!!!!

    Respectfully,

    Thomas McGarrigle

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
There was no indication that any of this work was optional. My vehicle did not not need rear brake pads or rotors which was confirmed by two other mechanics.

    Regards,

The "optional" work was replacing the rotors.  The brake pads were at 2/32 at the time of inspection, which fails.

Again, as I stated in my previous response, we have a very good reputation, you can look at our outstanding reviews.  We have no reason to lie to our customers.

We are a very busy, well known, and well liked business.
