On 03/05/2023 I took my pregnant dog to CP vets because they were the closest emergency vet. She had started having contractions and her water broke 24 hours prior so we knew there was a problem when no puppies were produced. We informed them that we thought the puppy may have been stuck and we figured only one or two puppies to begin with. They charged us $165. The exam included checking her ears, her mouth, etc. After that they called to tell us everything was ok there but they never did a vaginal exam. (on a pregnant dog in labor clearing struggling) They said they could do an xray or Ultrasound to see how many puppies were in there but we said NO. They still did the Ultrasound and xray but stated " we can't tell how many puppies she has" They then charged us over $200 for blood work. All of which did not directly related to the symptoms our dog was there to be seen for. Totaling over $700... The only thing they did for her was give her 2 doses of ocytocin at around $30 each. They could feel the puppy in the birth canal and told us to wait it out. We left with the exact problem we went in with and out $800. The next day (Monday) we took her to another vet where we were charged $900 for her to be seen, sedated, and the puppy to be removed by forceps. We were completely ripped off with what seemed to be a simple solution. They forced us to pay prior to them even seeing her and refused to allow us in the building so we do not even know what they had done to her. We have no proof of xrays, ultrasound, or oxytocin have been given. And despite refusing the unnecessary imaging and tests, they did it anyway after they forced us to pay a deposit which was $700. I think its unfair of them to charge us for the blood work and imaging that we refused, which is the bulk of the bill. After it was said and done we still Owed $43 which had to be paid before they would give our dog back to us. There was not disputing the charges if we wanted out dog back.
