I recently took my used chevy to the local dealership for the takata air bag recall. Nick chevrolet ordered the part and had me come in when it arrived. When they had finished the repair i got into my truck and it turned out they broke my dash. I asked what they were gonna do about fixing it and the service people said they would work with me, like it was my fault. They told me it broke because it was old and because it was already cracked. The crack that was there was a surface crack that had been there for years and now there is a gaping hole. So i filed a complaint through gm and a bad google review. Gm got back to me within a week and told me that they were not liable for any damage because of the age of the vehicle and that there was already a crack. So i waited a week or so to calm down and called today and talked to the executive manager at the dealership. He said that they will not fix my dash but they will give a thousand dollars off a used or new vehicle. The dash replacement costs about 600. I want to express my dissappointment in the fact that chevy, a staple of american culture, is no longer a name i will ever be proud to support. It hurts my heart that in this day and age that its okay to break peoples things because they are old. They should be ashamed of themselves. Ever since i was young i was taught to hold yourself personally accountable for your own actions and make things right for your own conscience. I feel like i am probably not the only one they have done this too and they should be held accountable for the things they destroy.
