My 13 month ***** **** has recently started attending Kiddie Academy as of March 6, 2023. On March 7, **** from Daycare called me & said ***** had a temperature of 101.1 and I needed to come pick him up. When I arrived at daycare, I felt his head and didn't notice him hot. When I got home, i performed a rectal thermometer check and found out his temperature was 98.7. I called the daycare to express the inaccuracy of the temperature check that they performed. they stated that they perform temperature checks on their forehead. On March 14, 2023, ***** at Kiddie Academy called me at 10:29 am to again tell me that my son had a temperature of 101.5. Knowing this was false, as he was not sick, i brought his rectal thermometer to verify the accuracy of the tests. I arrived at the school at exactly 10:34 am. When I picked up my son, i performed a rectal reading and found out that his temperature was 99.0. I showed the teacher the reading and disputed the inaccuracy of the results. ****** then told me that she performed 2 checks, one on his forehead and one under his arm. She then admitted to me that she inflated the temperature as underarm temperature checks are not accurate. Since no one admitted that they provided ******* or ****** to my son, i find it hard to believe that in five minutes his temperature went from 101.5f to 99.0f As i had to leave work on 2 occasions to pick up my son with false temperature readings, and the teacher admitted that she inflated the numbers, i'm seeking help with this matter. Both times, the daycare could not provide documented evidence that my sons temperature was in fact over 101f, the number needed for a child to be considered sick and to leave the establishment as per their sick policy. Also, their sick policy does not indicate that they will inflate the numbers which was admitted to me. I'm seeking reimbursement of both days as they did not follow their documented sick policy and admitted to inflating the temperature reading to me.

Thank you for reaching out to get clarification on the complaint. As you mentioned, each story has two sides, and we feel (based on our documentation) that this complaint was unnecessary and unjustified.

Our center has a policy (attached) of sending a child back if we find the body temperature at or above 100F. This temperature is measured using an academy-owned thermometer, and the temperature is taken via the forehead. This policy is implemented to avoid inconsistencies and to follow a standard protocol for all the children in the academy. Since we are not a doctor's office and for privacy, we do not measure in any other way or accept a temperature measured using a different process.

As you may have noted in the complaint, the academy thermometer showed a temperature above 100F in front of the mom. As per our process, we were right in sending the child home. This is a case where a parent asked us to change our policy to accept a result that can put children at risk.
From our perspective, this is a frivolous complaint, and we cannot refund the tuition amount for the reasons cited by the parent.
