    Business Response

    Date: 02/08/2023

    Dear Better Business Bureau.

In response to Complaint ID ********

Uncle Sam’s Auto Sales ordered a used engine for a 2018 ********.  This engine has an interchange between 2017-2022 ********’s as a longblock.  Meaning, it is the same engine for all of these years with some possible differences of misc items (sensors, brackets, flywheel, etc).  It is the customer’s responsibility to match their original engine with the replacement engine and change out anything that might be different.  In this case the flywheel was different.  This is a 5 minute job when the engine is not in the car.  Uncle Sam’s Auto Sales neglected to compare engines and installed with the wrong flywheel.

After they installed they called us demanding that we pay them to uninstall and reinstall the engine.

Our warranty (see attached- areas of concern are highlighted) explains this in detail.  Customer received this warranty when purchase was completed.

    Thank you

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I fail to read in the warranty the provision stating that it is the customers responsibly to check notes as to what is different on motors. The used parts suppliers have access to that information not so us suppliers. As i reached out to other  used parts suppliers

they clearly stated in their notes there is a difference between a stop and start motor and one not equipped with that feature i fail to see why it was neglected to state on the receipt or warranty paper . Nor was it stated verbally I believe this omission costed

our company a lot of labor time out of negligence and should be compensated for. Our company is not new to installing motors as we are most probably doing above average number of used motors(as Als  will truly agree based on our purchase history) In many many successful jobs we never encountered such an incident as  this of a failure of a supplier to inform changes that are necessary to do the job right the first time.

    Regards,
