I used Terris Notary to do my bookkeeping, payroll and taxes for the past 6 years for my restaurant business. During that time I received several letters from the *** that taxes werent paid or were late and charged a penalty which I paid. When I brought it up she said ignore it, they were already paid. Then I would receive another letter that it wasnt paid. Also, the payroll was incorrect at times so I decided to go with another bookkeeping service that could handle it. We asked that all the information including the profit/loss statements and general ledger be sent over to the new accountant for 2024 so we could file my taxes. All the services were paid in full as of 12/31/24 in which time I transfer everything over. I gave her all the documents including bank statements by 1/4/25 to make sure we had everything done in time. At this point I still havent received the documents and will have to file an extension. I am completely done using this company and just need my 2024 profit/loss and general ledger for 2024 which has already been paid for and not received.

Our company acknowledges that mistakes are made and that our staff is not perfect.  All 941 payments were made in a timely manner.  All 941 reports were filed on time with a zero balance, as the taxes were always paid on time.  I cannot control why the *** thinks that the returns were not filed correctly and why they send her statements.  I have spent countless hours contacting them to have them tell me that they were sent in error.

As for the profit and loss statement, she provided our office with receipts on a monthly basis.  We always entered them in a timely manner and filed all reports as needed.  However, she would not provide us with the bank statements on a monthly basis.  She provided our office with 3 months work of bank statements in January of 2025.  This is the beginning of our busy time, as I am also an income tax preparer.  Additionally 3/4 of the items on the bank statements are not in the receipts that were provided and it is not a quick process to decipher what all of the expenses are and to get them accounted for as they are an ACH.

She paid for 3 hours of bookkeeping service per month in addition to her payroll service.  Her rates were never changed in 6 years.  I personally have spent a minimum of 40 hours working on just the past 3 months worth of statements just to get all of the information deiphered and calculated in order to give her the best service possible.  This was not just a once in a while process.  This happened every month and our office was never compensated for any of the additional time.  We are working diligently to get the information tallied so that she can complete an accurate return.

We have provided her with all of the returns that were filed in a timely manner to show that we did the job that we were paid for.  I have been a bookkeeper for the past 30 years and work very hard to provide the best service possible to all of our clients and are saddened that this particular client felt the need to write this complaint.
