Last summer (2021), we hired Premier Contacting to remodel our kitchen. It was a big project and very expensive. The job including labor and material was $36,439.00. It was nothing but problems from start to finish. 1. We needed a restoration wall around the opening of the kitchen. The cost of this wall was $3,500.00. The corner bead around the wall opening on both sides is breaking away from the dry wall. We have to pay our new contractor to completely redo. 2.They left the job without installing the cabinet kick boards. We had to do that on our own. 3.Our ceiling has been painted three (3) times. The contractor could not float out the seams. The ceiling is still not right. 4. Grout on back splash looks horrible. It does not appear to be done by a professional. In the near future we will have to pay our current contractor to redo.5.We had to rip out the baseboard they installed and completely reinstall. 6.They broke the leg to my dishwasher and scratched the floor when installing. 7.They did not fill the nail holes in the crown molding. We did that.8.The outlet holes were cut too large. We had to fix that. 9. My kitchen floors are coming up after just one year. They have gotten so bad that you can barely walk on them with bare feet. They are cracking and completely coming up from the sub floor. Numerous contractors have advised that this is because they did not leave room for expansion and that they installed the floors on a sub floor that needed to be replaced. Our biggest issue at this time is the kitchen floor. Our new contractor is going to rip up the floor, replace the sub floor and install brand new kitchen floors. Obviously, this is going to cost us a lot of money. I called John S************* about this issue and he was both unprofessional and incredibly rude. I tried multiple times to come to some kind of an agreement with him regarding the floor. At this time, he is 100% unresponsive and that is why I am filing this report.

    Business Response

In 20 years of being in the world of contracting this is the second complaint we ever received . The first one was the customer of the same nature. A customer that no matter what you do or how many times you go back you can never make them happy. When when they asked us to do the job we were reluctant due to the fact that they had 8 contractors bid on their job and none of them wanted to work for them . In any event when I first heard about this complaint it was Aprox 3 weeks ago from today and it was the first time I have heard any issues on this job in over a year . Any previous issues we showed up and to our knowledge resolved any problems our customers had. We went back on numerous occasions as the job came to a close . As with any job there is always a punch list . But to read a complaint about a job from over a year ago is a little out of line . ****** text and Called me 3 weeks ago and we spoke about her new issues . She sent me a bogus email from a unlicensed contractor stating they would charge her $3500 to demo a floor and a wall . The wall simply may have needed some Spackle touch up from the wear and tear over the year . We were fully ready to come Back and so whatever ****** wanted within reason . She denied us coming back and demanded $3500 from a fictitious invoice she sent me . We were in negotiations on how we could resolve this matter when I was notified about this bogus complaint. In all of my years in this business myself and my company take pride in our work and our good name and are totally offended at the complaint that was made about us . We remain willing to go back at any time and resolve any issue that is within reason as we always have been . Unfortunately i truly believe there may not ever be a way to make this particular customer happy. If My company was the problem here  I would say so - its how I live my life with honor and integrity and honesty , They should give it a shot sometime .

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

John S********** is not in a position to comment on my nature. I met him once when he came to my house to give me an estimate. My husband met him one additional time when he came to my house to apologize in person for the constant mistakes and headaches his crew had caused.

I am not sure where John heard that I had eight (8) contractors bid on our job. I had two (2). We did not use the first bid because the timing was off. The contractor was extremely busy and we wanted to get started as soon as possible. We did not use the second contractor because the bid was extremely high and way out of our budget.

John’s timeline is completely off. He did not initially hear complaints from me 3-weeks ago. There were numerous times throughout our project that his crew had to come back and redo their work. At times, it was so bad that we gave up and fixed the mistakes on our own. On July 18, 2022 I contacted John because my wall and floor had gotten so bad. I could barely walk on my kitchen floor without shoes. I called him hoping he would stand behind his work. He admitted at this time that I complained “a decent amount”. He knew of all issues throughout our project. I am not a contractor but I do know that a floor should not be coming up from the sub floor less than one year later. I did not want to file a complaint against him. I thought we could come to a resolution on our own. I tried to contact him a few times before filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. He ignored my calls / texts. He was completely unresponsive. I waited over a month (August 23, 2022) to file a complaint against him. I can provide proof of this timeline.

The wall needed a lot more than a “Spackle touch up”. I can again provide pictures to prove the damage and the poor craftsmanship.

John stated that he was “fully ready to come back and do whatever within reason”. This is also false. John never once offered to come back and fix anything. When I called John he was abrasive, rude and unprofessional. He actually blamed us for the damage.

John also stated that I “demanded”. This is also false. I never demanded anything from John. I asked via text and phone that we come to some kind of resolution. I can also provide proof of that conversation.

John also stated that I provided him with a “fictitious invoice”. This is also false. I received an invoice from our new contractors who are currently fixing the damage his crew caused to my floor and wall.

I find it interesting that he did not once mention the floor in his response to the Better Business Bureau. I believe this is because he saw the pictures and he knows he is at fault. There is no argument he can make. The pictures speak for themselves.

John also stated that he lives his life with honor, integrity and honesty. This is also false. When John initially read my complaint from the Better Business Bureau his response was to harass me via text. He called me “a joke” and a “****** loser” and laughed at me for getting the Bureau involved. Where is the honor and integrity there? What kind of person / professional speaks to someone like that? He also states he is honest. This is also false. His whole response to the Better Business Bureau is dishonest and I can provide proof of the various texts of our conversation discussing this matter and the texts harassing me and calling me names.

The pictures speak for themselves. Please let me know if I should resubmit the pictures and the various, harassing texts.

    Regards,
