After I was involved in a car accident last month, a tow truck from Modern Auto showed up to the scene without being called and I let them take my car. I went to the location, saw my car,and talked to a *** (who I later found out is the owner from googling). I asked the same question of what the cost is to get my car out. He dodged this question again, but took my adjusters name and number and again said we will work with your insurance. That day, my body shop tried to call Modern 2-3 times and my adjuster called 10 times - no response. I then filed a police ***ort and the police guessed the place without me having to even tell them. They said Modern is known for holding your car hostage as long as possible to get more money from insurance. I then went back to Modern and handed them my phone with my adjuster on the line. During this call, the owner said very condescending and unprofessional things to the adjuster and myself. He also said they don't tell customers the price to get their own car release because it's "against policy". The next day, my insurance tried to to get my car out and Modern told them we dont release cars past 11:30am. Which, again, they have not mentioned during ANY previous conversations. When my car made it to my body shop the next day, Modern did not send my key along with it. I had to go back to Modern to request my car key. The owner initially told me that it was probably "in the car" ... it's a key fob so if it were in the car, the body shop would have been able to open the car and they had to pry the door open to check for the key. My key ended up being in a drop box, unlabeled, with about 20 other unlabeled keys, which they gave me without any sort of confirmation that it was actually my key (I checked - it was in fact my key.)

******. FRAUD. THIS PLACE IS A JUNKYARD, NOT THE REGULAR MECHANIC SHOP YOU EXPECT. This place doesn't deserve one star. Here are the facts:1. Once this place has your car, they will hold it hostage, claiming that you - or whomever else is on your insurance policy - authorized repairs when you didn't. They underhandedly threatened my wife, claiming that she had been recorded saying that she authorized repairs. When she asked them to play the tape, they backed all the way off, especially after being warned that we'd get police involved. Liars. 2. They refuse to answer their phone. They send their calls to voicemail intentionally. How do we know this to be true? When your get the automated message that says the caller isn't available after one ring or two, it is because they swiped to not recieve the call. It happens every time you call this place after they have your vehicle.3. Their tow truck drivers prey on folks in accidents. Guy with a big cross on the left side of his neck assured me that I would not be charged anything because the adjuster had to look at my vehicle first. Then I got threatened with over $5000 in storage fees after a few days.4. I personally went to this business because I needed my garage door opener from my vehicle. When I found my car, UNLOCKED, in the mass of cars in this junkyard, I immediately wanted my car removed to another repair shop. There is a reason their tow truck drivers happily take you to a rental car place instead of you staying with your vehicle. This place is dirty, unsafe, and unpredictable. Based on my experience and the incredible amount of terrible ****** reviews about this place, how does BBB not investigate and and get them shut down?

Terrible company. My car was towed here. We then paid and picked it up to have it fixed closer to home. All I needed from them was an invoice indicating payment. They did not respond to me or my insurance company, nor did I get that updated invoice. They have since blocked my number. What is so shady at this business that I can't get a simple revised receipt email for insurance purposes???

At 1130pm on July 4th we heard a very loud and aggressive banging on our door. The individual who was knocking on our door informed us that our car was hit by a drunk driver. At first, we thought this person was just trying to be helpful and notify us about this situation but it turned out that the reason he came pounding on our door in middle of the night was because he worked for Modern Auto Crafters and wanted permission to tow our car.

If they come knocking at your door asking to tow your car, whatever you do, DO NOT LET THEM. This is their entire business model. I see in some previous reviews they claim not to be a towing company and yet every bad review here seems to have the same theme: they towed our car and then it took a full week for us to get our car out of their lot. Our case was no exception.

The person who towed our car conveniently failed to inform us that they would be closed for another week. This was the Monday night on July 4th, the end of a three day weekend. When our insurance company called them the next morning they had an automated message saying that they would be closed for another week. The only reason they would’ve kept this information from us is because this is their shady business model: get people to tow their cars and then keep it for as long as possible.

Before posting this review, I called Modern Auto to ask if they can give me a clear reason as to why they didn’t tell us that they would be closed for an extra week. After spending five minutes debating with the woman who answered the call, who tried to convince me that this delay isn’t their fault, a male who I believe is the boss got on the phone and asked “so what do you want?” I told him that I just wanted a straight answer as to why I wasn’t informed that they would be closed for another week. His response was “you will not be talking shit. Hang up the phone motherfucker and don’t call back”.

Please consider this before allowing this company to go anywhere near your car.

This predatory company showed up to the scene of my car accident, tried to convince me to not wait for the cops, then held my car hostage for 4 days before charging 3,000 dollars to my insurance to get it released to the repair shop used by my insurance company. During this time they refused to talk to me about my car and said they can only talk to my insurance company. Without my knowledge, they had my car parked in a lot where it was getting parking tickets daily. On top of that they "forgot" to give the keys to the repair shop when the car was transferred to a repair shop, and refused to bring it themselves even though it was their mess up. These guys suck. If you ever get in a car accident and see their logo, tell them you'll wait for the next guy. They have made this process 10000% more stressful and difficult. Worst business ever. Superbly unhelpful every single interaction.

Please DO NOT use this company. Not only are they unprofessional they held my car for days to rack up storage fees. Also they damaged my car while it was on their lot & are trying to blame it on the company that moved my car. Pictures were taken before the car was lifted & I had NO REAR END damage when taken to their shop. Yalll have been warned!!!!! Don’t do it! Peter is a FRAUD:unprofessional ! He’s been in more hot water than he can handle but chooses to be nasty to people. People never know WHO they are dealing with.
