Angel Heating & Cooling installed a boiler at my property at *****************************************. They did not install the correct pipes to the boiler causing the boiler to fail in the middle of the harsh winter on January 13, 2025. An evaluation by a boiler specialist stated the pipes were incorrect in size, causing insufficient natural gas pressure into the boiler. I am seeking a partial refund to cover the cost to repair the boiler from the company.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/21/2025

Good morning, I have attached the original invoice in the amount of $4490 with a date of installation of October 5th, 2020. I also attached photos of the existing equipment we replaced as well as the photo of the unit we installed. With our installation the customer was given a one year warranty from our company. The contract also states "Reconnect and remodel existing supply and return piping". **** ******** only called us out one time since the initial installation at this property which was about one month after the installation (November 2020), and his radiators needed to be bleed, no direct issue to our installation at any time was reported to us to date. On January 14th, 2025 Mr.******** called our office to schedule an appointment at this property, because his unit was not working well. mr. ******** also stated that the unit has been "carbonized" and that he needed us to come out to address the issues at this property. This unit has had zero maintenance to date (not with us at least), 4 years of a unit operating can cause the unit to get a lot of build up and cause it to work less efficiently. These units need to be well maintained to keep them in the best condition and Laars requires it for warranty purposes. With that being said, ***** only provides a one year warranty on their boilers, which would have expired on October 5th 2021. Unfortunately, we have decided to end all services to **** ******** after he refused to pay us on August 28th 2024, at property ******************************************************************************************** after our tech found a thermostat faulty and gave him a price to replace said thermostat, he refused to pay an $89 service fee for the trip to this property. Mr. ******** then wrote a review stating that our pricing was insulting and that he was no longer a customer of ours. Mr. ******** then called and apologized and said he deleted the review and begged us to come back out, when I let him know we will not service anymore he threated to contact BBB. I believe this complaint is in direct result of him being upset because we will not service his properties anymore due to this issue from August 2024. This unit ran from October 5th 2021 to January 14th 2025 with no issues reported to us. That is 4 years and 3 months of proper operations with zero calls to us. We feel we have completely honored our contractual obligations to Mr. ********* and as such have no further obligation to Mr. ********* as is our legal right.

Thank you for your time. Please let us know if there is anything needed further.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: 22826784

I am rejecting this response because:

Angel Heating claimed that I needed to replace a thermostat at a cost of $450 at ***************, which is extortionary. A thermostat costs $40 at the store and perhaps $50 to install. Furthermore, Angel Heating improperly piped the boiler at ***************************************** with a 0.5" pipe, contrary to the Laars manual, which mandates a 3/4" pipe for sufficient gas flow to the unit. Boilers should last ***** years. Thankfully I called a real professional and he diagnosed the issue for me and I was able to get it fixed for $450. I am seeking $450 in damages to my unit due to improper installation of the boiler and the fact that the company doesn't stand behind their work. The new management is very deplorable and unethical. Even if I don't get any credit from the company I feel it is my responsibility to warn other customers of their unethical business practices.

      Regards,

      **** ********
