I recently purchased several lots from an auction they had in August that was for a deceased family friend. I was unable to pick up the items at the scheduled time, and an agreement was made with the auctioneers and the family that the items could be picked up at a later date. Last week, they were notified that we would come to pick the items up that Saturday 9/16. Multiple attempts to contact them were made to verify that they knew we were coming and to have the lots set aside for us when we arrived. They had confirmed all of this and we assumed everything was set. We arrive, only to find the incorrect lots were set aside, and my lots were in fact, shipped off to someone else entirely. The auction house said they’d refund my card and attempt to contact the recipient of my items and get them back. I called back on 9/22 for an update, they said they called once or twice with no response, but said they’d try again. I called again on 9/26 and 9/27 with no response from the business. My card has already been refunded, but I personally do not feel that this is an appropriate resolution to this issue. I would like the items I’d purchased from the auction successfully returned to me, that were mistakenly shipped out by the auction to someone else completely. I would not want this to happen to someone else, only for them to experience the same mismanagement I have. I’m willing to pick the items up myself from the wrong recipient, if it is a matter of them not wanting to deal with the hassle of shipping them back.
