I informed the company explicitly of two bathroom outlets that needed fixed. They sent two men, the younger being a trainee. The older instructed the younger on step by step instructions which took longer but they were only here two hours. The bill came and I was charged for 6 hours labor and told I also had to pay for travel time to and from their office which is about 7 minutes away. When I called to ask why I had to pay for both workers when I expected one qualified electrician to do the work, they said it was because **** required it. I then called OSHA in ****************** (*** ***** @ ************). He stated; It is not required under specific circumstances. He said for someone like a wall receptacle it is not necessary, only on very dangerous situations. The company manager was supposed to call me back yesterday when I made both these phone calls. I am willing to pay for two hours for one electrician but not 6. The cost of supplies is $42.43 which shows how simple this job was. I am filing a complaint not just for myself but for every other older woman living alone who is be taken advantage of by a company who tries to try to pad their bills.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/22/2025

Greetings BBB recipient of this response,

Thank you for your involvement and the BBB's existence overall, allowing both sides to present their story.

It is unfortunate that our customer feels a certain way in questioning our work and invoicing as a result.

We've attached a few documents from our side in response - the 1st of which shows the original customer data sheet from the original call in to our shop. The key words 'heater works but ******' would registered as a potentially dangerous situation and per our company policy, two technicians would be sent in response to this type of call.

I am not entirely sure as to the clients mention of 'outlets' and then as 'wall receptacles' as on the original sheet there was no mention. Maybe they were captured under the additional 'few things she'd like looked at'. One of the components that required replacement was a combination device, which is not a typical stock item on our vans. So travel time to an electrical distributor to obtain the product may have added to the time she is objecting to. Additional time may have been incurred as a result of the load center not being marked with the appropriate circuits and would've been far less efficient for a single technician to have identified.

The clients original invoice would have had 6 (2 technicians x 3 hrs) hours of labor on it, which is typical, actually rather efficient in comparison to the work being performed - travel to site from shop, troubleshoot issue#1, troubleshoot issue #2, address other 'things to look at', travel to/from distributor, replacement of switch, replacement of combination device, replacement of fan/light, completion of paperwork, return travel to shop.

Please let me know if any additional information would be helpful. Thank you.
