Placed check for $2000, on 7/3/23, in **** Reese's hand for a deposit to renovate my bathroom. I informed **** a week later that I will not use his company and to return my money. 7/18/23, ******* hand delivered a $1650 to me stating that because I cost him time and money I will be charged $350. The charge was never discussed or agreed upon. I would like my $350 return.

Hello. **** *************** contacted me and said what I wrote about what occurred was not true. I disagreed. **. *********** illegally withheld part of my refund because I did not want to have his company remodel my bathroom. He wanted to charge me $15,500 when another company quoted me $5560. He did refund me $1650 of my $2000 deposit. Enclosed with the check he wrote "Customer stated the price was too much and did not want to use me for the work. Company charged for company time for buying and returning materials." **. ********************** was able to return and get his money back. **. ********************** informed me that he received messages from BBB but chose not to respond. Thank you for all that you have done.

    To Whom It May Concern:

i apologize for the late response! ***** ***** knew that a deposit was need to get materials and labor that is why she gave me $2,000. This was a verbal agreement we had in her home and she was aware of this that is why she gave a check. i explained to her another balance would be need the day we started work as i do all my clients with a contract or estimate stating this. ***** ***** did this prior and she was refunded all of her money. the second time she gave the deposit she was told everything upfront. She specified a high toilet because she had a problem just as well the date we were going to start.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I disclosed to **** ********************** that due to a traumatic brain injury I have memory issues and to write down anything I need to know on an official document that I need to know. This was never done. Please note that I also take notes. According to my notes, **. ********************** charged me $15,000 to convert one-bathroom 10x7 into two, paint a living room wall, and put a small basin in the basement bathroom. He helped me to get a credit card and loan to pay for it. I provided him with a deposit check that he returned when I changed my mind. He said he returned any purchased items to the vendor and got his money back. I decided to remodel the one bathroom with the other and provided a check. It took me time to process that $15,000 was too much for what I wanted. Two contractors were consulted and were shocked by the price he gave me and told me he was taking advantage of me. They quoted me the price of $5,700 and $6,000 respectively. I informed **** that I will not use his service because of the cost and wanted my deposit back. He told me that because he got me the loan, I can only use his company to remodel my bathroom and that he would withhold the money from the loan if I used another company. This was a threat to me. He also told me that I will pay for this, changing my mind and his inconvenience, of helping me to get the loan and credit card. This was a threat. **** returned all items purchased to the vendor and got his money back. He withheld monies from my deposit because of his proven threat. We never discussed and nothing was written when he received my first or second deposit. I have changed my mind when working with contractors throughout the years, and I have never experienced anything like this.  Congratulations **. **********************, you took advantage of a disabled client.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *****
