    Approx. June 2022 my wife called for an ambulance as she felt she might need to get to hospital as her heart was racing. The ambulance showed up and after a few minutes transported her to York Hospital emergency room. Like most medical services they typically get insurance info, etc. This was a 1 way, 5 mile ride to the hospital. In April, 2023 we received a bill from WY Ambulance for approx $1400. Our immediate thought was - wow, this was almost 10 months ago, did our insurance cover some of this ... Two weeks later we received a "collection notice" from a third party. We quickly worked with Highmark, saw nothing was ever submitted for claim, so we submitted to them and received $400 credit so we quickly paid the balance. The issues: 1. Why was there a 10 month lag in getting a bill? Why was it not submitted through insurance like all medical services? Why would a collection/3rd party immediately get involved? We have impeccable credit and this was alarming. Horrible way to treat clients.
