On July 26, 2024 brought my car in for welding/repair. Was told to return Monday and leave the car. Told the price was $800. On August 1, 2024 returned to pickbup the car. The price increased to $2194, no phone call or authorization to go ahead at that prive. When I complained he suggested he could cut $400 by paying cash. At this point I had no option but to pay it or abandon the car.

He brought the van in for repair and I gave him a ballpark figure without taking anything apart. Once we got into the job, the wheel well was filled with bondo and a foam filler. This turned into a much bigger job than we anticipated because there was nothing for us to weld to, it all needed to be built back up.  Whomever he bought the car from, or the previous owner, had done a patch job with the bondo and foam. I could not repair it as such, because my reputation is at stake. I fixed it the right way.
I should have called him to let him know that it was a much bigger job, I apologize for that. I am willing to deduct the price I quoted of $800, from the total  of $2194.00 and split that with him. If he accepts, I will mail him a refund check for $697.20.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

The math in the offer is incorrect.

$2194 - 800= $1394. I would accept $1394. If you can't do the job for the price,, call the owner and say so..

Please see the attached photo of the work that was performed on the vehicle that is in question.  We performed a lot of work on this vehicle.  If anything, he should have gone after the person that sold him this vehicle that was filled with foam and spray painted to cover the existing rot.  *********************** was told that we get approximately ****** @ day.  We never know what exists under the vehicle until things are opened up.  As you can see in the video, this was an extensive job.  The bad material had to be cut out and then refitted with new materials and welded back.  This all took days.  We felt that it was fair to refund ***** ******, because of the amount of work that they did receive.  ******* - 800. = ******* split x 2 = 697.00.  We feel that based on the amount of work that was performed on *****'s vehicle, this is fair.

    Customer Answer

The amount of work put in is exactly why a refund is in order.

    A. The amount of work was not authorized by the owner of the vehicle.

    B. Changes to the amount of work was not relayed, duscussed or agreed to by the owner of the vehicle.

    C. Change in price was not discussed or agreed to by the owner of the vehicle. The change in price far exceeds normal estimate expectations as the price is $250 above stated quote.

    D. Price was $800. Not $800 per day. This is shown in the receipt as it shows billing per hour not per day.

I request remittance of a refund of $1394 by August 30, 2034 to ***************************************** via check for proof of payment.
