On July 26, 2022 I entered verbal agreement with *************************** to replace and stain 5 X 12 front porch and 10 x 12 back deck, replace 3 exterior wall hand rail, and replace retaining walls. Check for $3800.00 was written to him not the business, that day. 2 carpenters arrived on July 27, 2022. They replaced and completed front porch on 7/27/22. Damage to a clapboard was noted, ********* said he took photo. Also 2 steps sloped down and wood blocks were placed beneath support beams. ********* said he will be back to shape blocks to conform to size of supports. ****************** was given a check for $5,000.00 on 7/28/28. Same 2 carpenters arrived on 7/28/22. They replaced and completed back deck. July 29, 2022 two painters arrived to stain front porch. A third coat was needed; he wanted $450.00 for 3rd coat. Another check was written for $5800.00 to complete the jobs. ****************** said he will need another $1550.00 to replace clapboards his ********* damaged, and install 2 interior wall hand rails 4 and 5 in basement (a job that would cost $500.00 per ******************). I believe the hand rails he selected cost all of $25.00. On 9/19/22 a very young man, who said he was ******************** brother-in-law, came to stain back deck. He had no car and said ****************** dropped him off. Job was incomplete. When he left he said ****************** was picking him up on the main road- not at my house and ****************** said someone will be by some day next week to finish. ****************** indicated on several occasions if I could entice my neighbors to hire him he would reimburse me $800.00 for each job. Text message string indicates his excuse of need to take wife to chemo which apparently is the reason why he no longer has carpenters to complete jobs for which he was paid. I will finish staining deck and have hired another ********* to complete projects for which ****************** was paid. On 9/21/22 I sent text informing him that he is fired and to remove ladder from the premises

    Business Response

    Date: 11/01/2022

Hi, this is all in one *************************** ************************. I did a job painting. I told the lady that my wife was very ill and I was staining her deck. In addition of that it was almost completed. The gentleman I had help to met me out on the house side of the road because I was in a hurry that day. She called me up terminated me showed me a balance of $1500. She kept my materials and a ladder. In addition of that, I had intentions 100% to go and finish and complete the job, but I could not do it because she wanted me to get my stuff on her property, which was my drop cloth and she kept all my paint and materials. So in addition of that I did and in good faith to complete the job for anybody I would do that for and sad that it happened that way but I feel like I am not responsible because she did not want me to complete the job.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered. [********************** window of opportunity ended last week.  Why was this response even accepted?  He ("he" being various relatives *****************************. ***************** does not do any of the work himself) had several months to assign a relative to complete painting and carpentry.  "Almost done" pictures contradict this claim.  Had I not fired him, to this day, it still would not have been done!   Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.FAQRegards,*******
