I went to Bluffton Total Eye Care ****************************************************************************** ***** for an eye exam. I wanted glasses for Reading and distance. The doctor recommended progressive lenses. I was hesitant but went ahead. When they came, I went to pick them up. My vision was worse with them. A young man waited on me. The owner/manager was there. She grabbed the glasses and said "I'll handle this". She asked me to read some fine print. I kept telling her it was blurry. She said explain blurry. I said not clear. I told her I could see better distance & reading without them. She said my "brain" was not "working right". She was rude and demeaning. I did not accept them & left. I went back another day to get the eyeglass prescription (I called before I went, left a message on the answering machine that I was coming.) I wanted to take it where I was going for another exam for comparison. I was told by the Owner/Mgr that I could not have it unless I paid the Copay. I was not aware of a Co-pay. She was rude about it. A man came walking from the back. No one else was there. He said "I don't work here and I don't know what your problem is (rudely) but the doctor you had is the best".There is more than one Optometrist there so he should not have had that information. (HIPPA violation?). I said this doesn't involve you. The manager then said to him, "she's not a nice person". I went home to check with my Ins. about the copay. I returned with my husband another day. I asked for the prescription. She said I could have it but that it was not signed. I think this was untrue as it had to be signed for the glasses to have been made. She asked if I was going to pay the Copay. I said yes and had a $10 bill in my hand. My Ins. had already paid the claim for the exam/ prescription. I said I wanted to use as a comparison at a reexamination. It was at this time she said I couldnt have it and that my husband and I needed to leave immediately. She said we were trespassing!
