Sought the assistance of this law firm regarding quieting the deed/title of heirs’ property in SC. A Zoom consultation was setup and a 300.00 fee was paid for the service. In return for this service, we were instructed to provide names and addresses of all the descendants of the heirs. Likewise, we were told a a contract proposal would be sent to us. After several weeks of waiting for the contract to arrive, I reached out by email to inquire about it to no avail. Made phone call to Mr. K. Huger. To my dismay, he couldn’t recall our prior discussion. Had to refresh his memory. Was told that his assistant would be sending a contract. One month has passed and still no further contact. We were provided nothing other than to send him some names and addresses. I feel as if I was ripped off and received nothing in return for 300.00.

    Business Response

Mr. Le Roy *****' family member contacted our office to discuss a legal matter.  She was informed that there was a $300.00 consult fee.  Mr. ***** paid the fee, and I had a Zoom Meeting with Mr. ***** and his family member.  A few days after the Zoom Meeting, Mr. ***** called me, and we had a follow conversation.  All the questions Mr. ***** and his family member asked were answered.  In fact, as he implies in his complaint, Mr. ***** wanted to retain my firm.  I told Mr. ***** that my assistant would send him a contract.  However, I forgot to ask her to do so.  That was totally my fault and is no reflection on my assistant or my intentions to work with Mr. ***** family.

In his complaint, Mr. ***** noted, "To [his] dismay, [I] couldn't recall our prior conversation."  Initially, Mr. ***** did have to remind of the prior conversation.  I speak with numerous people every week, some of whom are potential clients such as Mr. *****.  Thus, asking him about the previous conversation was simply to make sure I would not get him confused with someone else.

Mr. ***** has my contact information and could have easily called my assistant or me to remind us that a contracted needed to be sent.  Notwithstanding, I take full responsibility for the contract not being sent as initially stated to him.

The consult fee that Mr. ***** paid was for the consult that he received.

If he is interested in retaining my firm to work with his family, we are still open to do so.  However, I am not refunding the consult fee as it was earned.  If he decides to retain my firm, I will credit the consult fee towards the retainer.
