This spring I was so excited to start a garden. I purchased the above-ground containers, prepared the ground, bought the plants and seeds, and ordered the soil. I did all of the right things including purchasing a soaker system to combat the 100-degree temperatures of South Carolina. I was so disappointed that I had no yield from my garden. A few weeks ago, I cleared all of the dead and burned plants from the ground and was reminded of my disappointment and how much time, energy, and resources were wasted.

I took a soil sample to the Clemson Extension Service, managed by Clemson University. This week, I received the report from the soil and called them for further explanation. As you can see in the report and she explained, the excessive levels of phosphorus, potassium, and calcium prevent plants from thriving, much less, growing vegetables.

I contacted the company, Super Sod through their website to bring the problem to their attention. I could have easily gotten a bad batch of soil. They told me that what I purchased was compost and that "I would have to test my soil again." They call it soil, potting soil actually. In a marketing email received today (screenshotted) they call it potting soil, but to get my money back they want me to pay for another test, a compost test. That is just more work and money that I have to spend to prove my point.

They clearly refer to what I purchased as potting soil on their website. What I was sold was a chemical nightmare for plants that I cannot even spread on my grass.

    My transaction number: *******
    Total Amount for Purchase: $246.09
Plants died from faulty product: $90

Our compost is properly broken down and will not burn plants. Please keep in mind that traditional "soil tests" through your state’s Agriculture Cooperative Extension office do not accurately represent nutrients in compost. Because our compost is manure-based, a "potting mix" or "compost/manure report" offers an accurate analysis rather than a "soil test," which is intended for structural soils (rock-based, including clay or sand). A soil test is for the dirt native in the ground, and not for any kind of bagged products. If you want to run an accurate nutrient test on compost, we recommend Waters Agricultural Lab for all potting mix and compost reports.:

A refund has already been offered contingent upon having a legitimate "compost" test completed and shared with us.

As seen in some of the screenshots I provided, this company is advertisting this product as soil, potting soil actually.  I don't understand why I have to get a compost test for a product that they are advertising as soil. Another test, which I have to pay for, will cost me more money when I already have so much soil that is basically unusable.  Are they going to pay for the test?

I am just struggling with their advertising, as well as their product.  They need to use the word compost only in their advertisting if I have to get a compost test to have their "soil" tested.  It is false advertisitng and as the Better Business Bureau, I hope you recognize that.

    Thanks,

On April 28th I called SuperSod and purchased 3 big bags of leveling mix. SuperSod billed me on May 1 for the product and to date, I still do not have the product and had to cancel equipment and contractors as a result. I was given no later than 5/12 as my delivery date. In addition, SuperSod has billed me twice for the same transaction and I cannot get them to remove one of those charges. I have discussed my issues with SuperSod Customer Service (call center) and have gotten nowhere.I have been promised a resolution call from the Accounting Department and again nothing, In a nut shell-they failed to deliver as promised, the billed me incorrectly and they fail to communicate. I have used SuperSod in the past and they have never been this aweful.
    Thank you-Brian W****

According to the internet--the corporate office for Supersod is: 23 Valdosta Rd, Lakeland, GA.  However, the phone number has been disconnected with no additional information. I called SuperSod and they are telling me the Corporate Office address is: 22 West Edge Street, Suite 106B, Charleston, SC 29403 but the call center claims they do not have a phone number.

Just in summary, I have been doubled bill for material that was supposed to be delivered no later than 5/12 and I do not have it, Been promised corrective action by the accounting department and a phone call from them and have not heard a word.

    Hope this helps,

    Brian

After being promised the material in question for this coming Monday 5/20 (already over a week late) they just told me they will not have a truck in the area so it is now going to be Tuesday before my delivery occurs. I explained they billed me twice for the same transaction and I still do not have the material nor the credit for the overcharge,  Customer service said, this is the best they can do as they are only able to communicate via an internal email system and no one can talk to anyone. I said, if anyone should be a priority, it should be me and instead, I will need to call back again on Monday and more than likely be placed on hold for over an hour to find out if the material or credit is resolved.
