There have been some misdeeds and damage done to my car when I had a miss-sized tire replaced on December 13, 2022. The only way the damage on my door could have happened is most likely it was opened onto an object that got jammed under the door and lifted up with some force, I suspect the door was opened onto some object causing the door to uplift causing the door to jam on the latch that supports one end and bent on the underside of the door.
That was the first thing I noticed when I got into the car after the tire was replaced, that my door was catching on the jamb when I closed the door. The scratch damage to the inside of the door in two places could have only occurred when some sort of object was used to bend the damage in an opposite direction causing more obvious damage, which went horribly bad.
Attached in this complaint is a PDF tat explains and should some screen shots of this damage.

We did not damage Mr *****s vehicle.  A floor jack was used to lift one side of the vehicle to replace one tire.  We did not use a lift on his vehicle and it would be impossible to have caused the damage as he claims.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  I
guess the video and image evidence is not enough to think Pope Davis can
maneuver out of blame.  But of course this proves from their response that
they have denied yet again and they feel they have no responsibility for the
      damage.

I don't want to have to make this report as it is
a pain and a lot of stress to bear on my part causing bad feelings toward Pope
Davis which I have been using for years.  I have a damaged door and there
is no resolution to fix it through no fault of my own, which could have been
settled amicably earlier but we have to drag this out longer.

Pope Davis damaged my car while in their shop and
while on TOP of a lift.  Obviously with their response to these
allegations, they didn't or don't want to review what I wrote or listen to what
happened.  I never said the car was LIFTED, so please stop trying to twist
words to fit a narrative.  Beyond a shadow of a doubt my car was parked
over one of the lifts as shown in an image I posted, which just happened to
match a color of paint that ended up on the bottom of my car door.
WOW.  And once the door was opened on the lift, the mechanic made a big
mistake when he said he "f**ked up", in his own words.  Please
read what I wrote in this report.  There is significant damage which again
is being denied and they are leaving me holding the bag of misdeeds on a Pope
      Davis mechanics part.  I don't
deserve this petty treatment when I spent about $225 for a tire I only wanted fixed.  I guess that never happened either?

The manager at Pope Davis denied me to go takes
pictures of the mechanic bays when I asked if I could, when I met with him one
time shortly after this happened.  Of course that was denied, even if he
was with me.  At the time I had no way of knowing for sure that my car was
parked over a lift or where it was in the shop.  Is it a big coincidence
that a lift in that shop had yellow paint that ended up on my car door and my
door was binding when it closed?  The damage is very fresh in those images
I posted.  I didn't download pictures from my dash camera until much later
after this happened which proved to me that my suspicions were true.

So with the few words that a representative said
in their statement about my car not being around a lift like that, if I
download a few seconds on my car backing out from under a yellow painted jack
that he states my car was not parked over, would that prove my case or at least
prove they are not telling the truth again?  Do images mean nothing anymore?  This is a once in 1000 chance that I even got
them.  I can't believe what is happening
      right now.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *****

On 9/28/22 I took my car to Pope-Davis. I usually go to this location for my car needs. When my car arrived they stated I would only need a battery, alternator, and valve covers. Upon my vehicle arriving I requested to have my window motors replaced. I was called several times. The manager over Pope-Davis at hardscrabble stated to me that I would have to pay for the two Vale cover gasket. She did not ask if I would like the service done. She basically told me that I would have to get it. I stated that I did not want the two Valve cover gasket done. Just the valve cover. I also receive multiple invoices with different amounts. She also said that if I did not get the two valve cover gasket, I would have to get the vehicle towed out of the facility. Which I did get it towed. Before I took my car to Pope Davis, I did not have a problem with my temperature thermometer. I drove my vehicle around the street and my temperature thermometer was overheating. I called and told the manager at Pope-Davis she stated that if I would have received the two valve cover gasket that my car would not have been running hot. Basically I've spent $1200 And still no problem is fixed. I'm very disappointed because there was a change in management but still this is by far the worst customer service experience ever. I'm a college student so ever dime I get counts to me and I've wasted so much money dealing with the car issue at Pope-Davis.

Ms ******* was quoted to repair leaking valve cover gaskets and approved the work. Once the technician took things apart he could see the valve covers themselves were also leaking. This would be impossible to see before accessing the area. Ms ******* was given a discounted quote of $360 for the valve covers and no additional labor instead of full retail of $500. Ms ******* declined to replace the valve covers and was fully informed the vehicle would continue to have problems if she declined this repair. Even though it would require labor time to take everything apart again Ms ******* can bring her vehicle in for the valve cover replacement for $300 to cover costs to resolve the issue for her.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Although I was told about the valve cover. That is not the issue at hand. The issue would be the car running hot this is not due to anything dealing with the valve cover gaskets. This is another issue at hand which the mechanic did not notify or handle. I was told that I would have a leak and not a running hot problem. Yet, this has nothing to do with the valve cover gasket.

      Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/10/24) */
We were not told of any issues with the vehicle running hot when it was brought in. It would not start due to oil leaking on to the alternator. However if your car was run low on oil due to the leaks that could damage your engine and cause it to run hot. It could be another unrelated issue. We would be happy to diagnose at no charge why the vehicle is running hot if you would like to bring it in.

My car was overheating and I took it to Pope Davis on 7/20/22 4513 Hardscrabble Rd Columbia SC. Manager Rachel told me they will run diagnostic they discovered radiator was leaking they replaced it I paid $775.57 on 7/21/22. I went to Disney on 7/25/22 with my family for one week and car was home in Columbia. On 8/8/22 light came back on car is still overheating I immediately took it back to same repair shop. I explained to associate Juan that I was already here two weeks ago for same issue and need them to figure out why is still overheating. I was told that I need to pay for another diagnostic which I didn't agree with but went a head and was told Thermostat and Water Pump need to be replaced $489.71. They replaced it Tech drove test the car and apparently due to pressure Oil Cooler went out. They replaced that costing me additional $557.78 part $312.50 labor. After test driving it again car still overheating and Tech Nick took another look and determined Radiator was defective and costing the overheating. I was told by Juan they will order a new one but won't get it till 8/18/22. I'm not sure if Tech knows what he is doing and afraid when new Radiator is installed that it would not take care of overheating issues. I called manager Nathan XXX-XXX-XXXX no response I need him to take off all labor charges and the parts that were apparently damaged but when replaced we still have overheating issue. This has caused me stress and without a car and to borrowed my friend car to move my son to college on 8/10/22 which Juan was aware but nothing has been done to resolve my issues. No rental car was offered, no phone call from manager and still not sure if Tech is certified to fix my car I feel he is guessing and replaced the parts that he thought was the issue and clearly the main issue is a defective radiator. I'm not happy with the service and treatment that I have received and will never take my car there again. Please contact manager to get this resolved. Thanks

Mrs ******* refused to pay a diagnostic fee upon her inital visit and stated she just wanted her radiator replaced. The radiator was clearly leaking and was replaced. No diagnostic work for any other issues was done or paid for. Upon her return visit we still reduced her diag fee to 25% of normal charges. The vehicle was overheating & leaking at the water pump. The Oil Cooler also was not working. This work was completed and the car still had an overheating issue. The radiator was found to have a blockage. The radiator was replaced under warranty and we reduced Mrs ******* charges by an additional $200 to her satisfaction. We resolved this issue over the phone I believe right after she filed this complaint but before we received it.

      Consumer Response /* (2000, 13, 2022/08/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The manager called me back and gave me $200 off for the inconvenience they have cost.
