On or about February 2, 2023 we hired Mr. ********************** to do some handyman work on a property we purchased in ******, **, at ************************************. We agreed to a price of $3200 to paint the kitchen cabinets and walls, cut out a spot over the range for a microwave, prep walls through out the house for paint, reset the bathroom vanity, install a new bathroom door, redo a hall closet door and cut out and repair a spot in the bedroom floor. On February 8, he said the Kitchen paint would be finished the next day, he would have the wall prep done, and had repaired a spot in the kitchen. He ask for a payment of $2500. Then he came back and said he could get some material we needed from a friend and save ** some money, so we added $500 and paid him. $3000 on February t0. The next week he said he had everything else finished and ask for $1500 plus $150 for inspecting the crawl space. So, on February 17 I paid him $1650. We live in ******** so, we were taking his word that he had done what he said. However we did return to ****** the week of April 2nd to check on the work. Nothing had been completed! We had hired him to paint the kitchen cabinets. Not only were they not finished, they had not been sprayed, not propertly anyway. They looked awful. Walls were prepped but not well. Bathroom door was up but would not close. Hall closet door was a disaster. We talked to him about all this and gave him an opportunity to fix everything. On April 20 nothing had been done so we fired him and hired someone else. So we are paying someone else, not just to finish the job but to redo everything.I feel like he owes ** a refund of the entire $4650 that we paid him but I told him we would settle for $2500. He has basically refused to pay that and wants to finish the job. However, what we have seen of his work in approximatley 90 days, he is not capable of doing satisfactory work. I hope you can help us get restitution.
