I took my truck to this business because the abs and break light were coming on intermittently. The speedometer and the a/c were doing the same. They said the problem was the a/c compressor. They changed it for $1000. The issues remained. I took it back and they said it was the a/c lines. They replaced them for another $700. The problem remained. I took it back and they told me the problem was the T.I.P.I.M. ( Another name for the fuse box.) They told me that they could only find one used one that would cost $700 and the labor would be $600. I declined. I told my neighbor, who is a master technician with over 20 years experience, about my issues. He found a business that rebuilds T.I.P.I.MS. The rebuild costed $600. He removed and reinstalled the T.I.P.I.M. in less than eight minutes. Remember, they wanted $600 for this labor. After this, the problem remained. He then moved the key around in the switch and within fifteen seconds he diagnosed the real problem. It was my ignition switch the entire time. " Your honest mechanic " did unnecessary repairs to my truck, never returned replaced parts and overcharged for parts and labor.

On May 18, 2023 *** ******* brought his 2004 Dodge Ram to us for his A/C not working. Upon our testing we found he had a bad A/C Compressor and added dye to the system to show any future leaks if present. We replaced the compressor and his A/C was working. On August 1, 2023, *** ******* returned and said his A/C was not working. Upon our testing we found no freon in the system. When we added freon to the system his A/C was working again and we found dye leaking from one of the A/C lines - we replaced the line, charged the system back to factory specs and his A/C was working again. On May 1, 2024 he brought the truck back and stated his A/C was not working and also the ABS and brake light come on and the speedometer was not working. Upon our inspection here are the tech notes directly from the invoice - NO CODES IN ABS OR HVAC. WHEN WARNING LIGHTS COME ON SPEEDO QUITS WORKING AND AC NOT WORKING. CHECKED FOR COMMUNICATION WITH ABS TO PULL CODES. NO COMMUNICATION WITH ABS OR HVAC WHEN WARNING LIGHTS ON. WHEN LIGHTS ON HAVE NO POWER TO ABS OR HVAC. CHECKED FOR GROUND AT MODULES AND FOUND GROUND PRESENT BUT NO SWITCHED POWER FROM INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. FUSES 30-38 HAVE NO POWER IN OR OUT. WHEN LIGHTS OUT HAVE SWITCHED POWER IN FUSE BOX, SWITCHED INPUT POWER PRESENT IN FUSEBOX. RECOMMEND REPLACE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE/UNDERHOOD FUSE BOX.  Customer declined service and would not let us do any further testing. Then customer emailed us on August 5, 2024 and stated his neighbor replaced the part we suggested and that did not fix the problem. His neighbor who works at a shop approx. 30 min from our shop purchased the totally integrated power module and a throttle position switch, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and a starter switch. We were emailed these invoices by *** ******* and on these photos it shows the name of the repair facility his neighbor works for. His neighbor purchased these parts at wholesale price and it appears he also gave *** ******* a much discounted rate since it was not serviced through the repair shop and completed as a "side job". *** ******* is stating our labor for the part was $600.00 and our estimate clearly shows the labor at $155.00. Also - we discounted the part for him as well - clearly we cannot charge customers wholesale or we would not be in business. If his master mechanic neighbor did not think that module was going to fix his car, then why try and replace it? That clearly shows that his neighbor also thought that would fix the problem and when it did not, his neighbor purchased four other items that could potentially fix the problem. Since we were not able to properly diagnose his truck there could have been multiple issues - once the integrated power module was replaced by us, we would have known if there were other issues related and if it was misdiagnosed we would not have charged him for that module or the labor for the module and only charged him for the parts and labor that did fix the problem.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.

First, on the invoice from circuit board medics, I had them rebuild, unnecessarily, my T.I.P.I.M. I did not purchase a new one. Second, on the ******** *******,  the only, and I repeat, only part that was used on my truck was the ignition switch. I highlighted it for " your honest mechanic " when I emailed it to them. They are clearly trying to continue to  use deception in their response which would be consistent with their business practices.

First, we also quoted a remanufactured TIPM, not a new one.
Second, on the Circuit Board Medics invoice under comments it says “intermittent
power, intermittent lights does not want to start when the unit is cold”.  If nothing was wrong with the TIPM, then what
did Circuit Board Medics repair? Third, unless you work for that repair shop
that was listed on the invoice, it was the repair shop that had the TIPM
rebuilt, not the customer as he stated in his response. If the repair shop was
certain nothing was wrong with the TIPM, then why would they have it rebuilt?
That repair shop would have done their own diagnostics to determine what
another shop (us) said was correct. Since *** ******* purchased four parts on
that invoice, we don’t know for sure that the ignition switch was the only part
used. As mentioned in our previous response, if we had repaired the TIPM and it
did not fix the problem we would not have charged parts and labor for what did
not repair the vehicle. We only charge for what does repair our customer’s
vehicles. Clearly, with the timeline of events here, these events are not
related. Unfortunately, these things happen especially with 20+ year old vehicles
such as *** *******. Electronics in vehicles, just like electronics and light
bulbs in a home, can act up whenever they want. We have also attached a copy of
the estimate with detailed notes of how we determined the TIPM.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, Please let us know below why you are rejecting the offer made by the business.]

As to the comments on the Circuit Board Medics invoice, they were my comments that I told my mechanic who in turn told them. I was quoting what " your honest mechanic " told me. My mechanic removed the tipim from my truck and took it to C.B.M. As I stated previously,  he reinstalled the T.I.P.I.M but my issue remained. The claim that they would not have charged me for repairs that did not fix the problem apparently did not apply to the $1700 that I paid them. As for the timeline they refer to it's called Fall and Winter. I don't use my a/c when it's cold outside. As for the attached estimate,  they did not include the $1300 they would have charged for yet another repair that would not have fixed the problem. $700 for a refurbished tipim and $600 for labor. Labor that took my mechanic less than 8 minutes total. The bottom line is that this business is either wildly incompetent or grossly unethical.  Either way, they certainly do not represent the upstanding people and businesses that we have in Pickens county.
