Move in date was set for today after leasing office moved it three times. 1st time my date moved b/c the leasing agent Shay, didn’t notify me that it was a handicapped unit. Move in date was moved again to a different apartment for them to day me a few days before that no one can move to that apt. Finally, it was moved again. The company’s policy is that I sign a lease for an apartment before seeing my actual apartment. In good faith, I did just that. Shayla, the leasing agent Imshowed me the well put together model apartment in bldg 9 and informed me that all of the apartments looked the same way. Being that the company’s policy is that I sign a lease to reserve my apartment, I was unable to view it before agreeing that it was okay. Shayla did a walk through and I didn’t take possession on the keys. The issue with the apartment was MOLD on the ceiling in the master bathroom. Other issues included a dirty front door, window locks broken, rusted vents, half cleaned patio, paint chipped throughout the apartment and on doors, you could see dirty finger prints on the white doors, there was a big stain on the bathroom counter, the second bathroom had dirty stains that should’ve been cleaned off, etc. With my move in date being moved 3 times, I expected the apartment to be move in ready. Shayla informed the property manager, Chelsea that I wasn’t happy with the apartment. They then had a maintenance person to tell me that the mold on the ceiling was “just moisture spots.” I asked was he a mold specialist, he told me no. If indeed it was “moisture spots” that indicates a ventilation issues. As an asthmatic person, I refused to accept this apartment. I held to my side of the lease. I paid $700 to do an application based off of viewing the model apartment. I took off three days from work to move, I rented a U-Haul. I have receipts for all of these. The leasing office said they were going to charge me for breaking the lease when they didn’t hold up their end of the contract.
