Purchased a automobile from A-1 Auto Sales in Cibolo TEXAS 78108. Never received title. Waited until paper license expired. Dec. 29 2021. Went to dealer and he explained title was lost by *** ** the tracking number is ************ and phone * ******** *****. *** ** explained envelope was lost and couldn’t be located. Dealer said Car Bucks floor plan company at *** ***** **** ***** ********** ** ***** phone # ************. Email ********************. Would have to replace title. I called January- July several times each month. A lady named Anna is in charge of my claim,”not helpful, but nice”. I have also talked to a supervisor named Conor and a manager named Preston. I’ve been told a number of stories throughout this horror story. First story was the need to find who had car before I purchased it. Second was needed to find the first person who owned car and ask them to sign a paper to get another title. None of these stories happened. Than car bucks said they would apply for a bonded title and it should take ten days. This was on July 13. Called on july 27 talked to a Dianne and she didn’t know what happened but no title was applied. Was told I would get a call back,I did not receive a call. Called back on july 28 and the person I talked to had no idea what had happened and would get someone to call me back, again no call back. Called on the 29 of july business was closed. It’s been almost a year with no title. I need to know what I can do to get title. Thanks

    Cindy,

We received your notice of complaint by Mr. **** on 10/12/2022.  We are an automotive floor plan company, and our clients are independent used car dealers.  A-1 Auto Sales is a customer in Cibolo, Tx.  The dealer floored a vehicle on 8/18/2021 and scheduled a payoff on 11/01/2021.  We shipped the title the same day via *****.  On 11/16/2021, we were notified by our customer that he had not received the title.  We began investigating immediately and learned that the package had been lost by ***** and was last reported being checked in at their Memphis hub.  On 11/23/2021 We began the process of acquiring a duplicate title through San Antonio Auto Auction in Texas.  Unfortunately, state level DMV’s have very strict rules on issuing duplicate titles and we were at the mercy of the DMV and a third party title processors.  After many follow up conversations, we were told on 02/14/2021 that the original seller was out of the country but was required to sign a POA to obtain a title.  We followed up weekly throughout the process and shared this information with our dealer and his customer Mr. ****.  ON August 16th, 2022, we drafted a letter for Mr. **** that outlined the steps we had taken and the results we were getting from the third party that was attempting to obtain a title.  On 8/29/2022 we learned that a title was obtained but that a lien release was needed and POA to accompany the new title.  We were able to get the lien released and obtain a POA in a fairly quick manner.  Our Account Manager in the Texas area hand delivered the new title to the dealer on 9/2/2022.  This type of situation is unusual, but we did exhaust every effort that we could in order to obtain a title for the dealer and his customer (Mr. ****).  It is not normal that we communicate with the end purchaser during daily business but did make exception and followed up with Mr. **** as often as possible.  I reached out to the dealer and verified that Mr. **** has received his title and registration.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Regards,
