I hired Blevins Builders to construct a front porch **** with gable and slant roofs.A contract was signed 3/6/24. He began work on or about 5/30/24. Completed but not to my satisfaction on 7/31/24. B****** was sent a certified letter voicing my concerns on 8/8/24.

From a distance, the porch looked done correctly. Framing looked fine as well. But as I started looking at the finished product, several major concerns were noted. I spoke to Mr, B****** about these in the presence of my *****. He was loud, belligerent and said i was being 'nit-picky'.

I later learned that Mr. B****** did not pulled a permit.

    Here are my concerns:

    1. My roof is not pitched correctly. (I can back this up with a quote from a professionally licensed roofer/contractor. There are 2 ways to correct this.)

    2. The gutters were done incorrectly. (I have 2 quotes on those with attestment that I was correct in my thinking).

    3. The concrete is sloped incorrectly. There is a hairline crack already forming near my front door. There is a 5’ area slightly lower than the rest that pools water when it rains or if I rinse off the porch. The patching in the corner is elementary. I fear this may cause issues later.

    4. There are a few other things involving torn screen and bent window wrap and the level of vinyl work done underneath the overhead of the porch. There was discussion about most of this and Mr. B****** didn’t seem very concerned, however, it’s very important to me. His employees are responsible for damaging it, as well as leaving concrete spray all over my hardy board, brick, windows and glass storm door.

It seems to me, he thought we were finished and I didn’t need to bring it up further. I paid Mr. B****** to complete the job in a professional manner.

He was paid $8000. I also paid $******* for materials. I don't want him to re-do anything. I don't trust him. I do not have any faith in his ability to fix all of the problems. He should have done it right the first time!

Mr. B****** has verbally agreed to refund some of my money. He says it will be paid in about two weeks. I do not want to close this case until I have the money.

Mr. B****** paid me the balance of the amount we agreed upon today.
I assume the check will clear and have signed an agreement that releases him from any liability.
I really appreciate your patience and support. Hope you weren’t hit too hard by the storm.
