My dog Roscoe had acute (two days) diarrhea and vomiting. I became concerned he was dehydrated so I went to Fetch Veterinary Clinic in Greenville, SC. Upon arrival my dog Roscoe was alert and healthy. I asked for fluids but they informed me a list of tests would be required to administer fluids. I agreed to 1500$ of tests. The blood test was normal, XRay normal, except small gall stones, ultrasound normal, palpation nothing recognizable. The vet administered fluids, cerenia which is used for chronic side effects of chemotherapy, ondansetron used with cancer medications, gabapentin used for severe pain and Metronidazole a strong antibiotic in which by mistake they gave him a double dose. All of these drugs are used for chronic issues with side effects of vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, liver and kidney damage and respiratory depression. My dog Roscoe did not have cancer nor was he in pain.
I returned home, and when I carried him from my car he was bleeding profusely from his bowels and was in respiratory distress. I called the Fetch clinic and they said it was probably pneumonia.
My boy Roscoe began to have seizures and died in my arms shortly after returning home. The Fetch Veterinary clinic denied any wrong doing. I am reporting this so no one else loses a beloved pet due to malpractice and the administering of medications causing death.
