Got the Buy one get one free HVAC service and the technician let 3lbs of my 410A coolant out and told me my system needed replaced for $ 15000 . I heard the technician let 4 seconds of high pressure release while sitting on my porch. My system would not cool my house and I had another HVAC company from *********** sc come and replaced 3 lbs of coolant Prefered Services guy let out and my system runs like new. Preferred services assumed no responsibility. This was a sales tactic and they are crooks.

We called Preferred two weeks ago and they sent a technician out to look at our HVAC unit. He told us that we needed the unit to be tested to find a small leak in one of the hoses and the office would call us back on Monday to schedule the service and gave us a price quote of $699. We did not get a call on Monday as promised so after giving them the full week thinking they may have been really busy I called back again this Monday. I was told that the technician would give me a call back and set up the appointment. I never heard from him. It is the next day and we are still waiting to hear from them. It is going to get very cold soon and we were told to use the heat we would need to set the unit on emergency heat and keep it set there to keep warm. We can't afford the power bill to keep running it this way.

I am a first time customer and I was very glad to have a knowledgeable technician like Joshua. He explained all the different tests he was performing on my HVAC system. He was encouraging me to talk to one of their consultants about a new system, because of the age of my unit. But after running all the tests, my old unit was performing at 100%. Worth the special price for a check up!

Just after hurricane Helene I contacted preferred home services to do a HVAC tune up. And the technician told me that I just needed to purchase a new HVAC unit. Because mine was old. Even though it is working he was pressuring me and his supervisor to purchase a new unit. He stated that I needed *** refrigerant but he said that *** refrigerant was no longer available. That's a lie you can buy it off of ****** and ******. So I contacted a new HVAC service and it is now completed. Preferred home services is just using scare tactics to try to get someone to buy a brand new system. Please get a second opinion if you do call them because I just spent money on a tune-up that didn't even happen.

A very nice technician gave me a quote to replace 2 exterior hose faucets with copper pipes. The quote was $1600!!!!! After I regained consciousness from passing out, I gave him a hardy "no thank you" and sent him on his way. I watched an online how-to video, spent $60 at the local hardware store, and 2 hours later had completed the work myself. This company is just another big-box service company out to rip-off anyone who doesn't know any better... don't use them!!

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review and feedback! We are sorry that you were unhappy with our pricing. We do always make a point to provide upfront pricing prior to performing any repairs or installations to allow the homeowner to make an informed decision. Preferred does not charge an hourly rate, but rather for the job as a whole as it includes parts, labor, and warranty. Due to this pricing structure, we are able to provide our customers with services like same day scheduling, longer warranties, and trucks stocked with well over 500 parts, along with a fully stocked warehouse with parts runners. Again we appreciate your feedback, as this information will be passed along to our leadership team so that we can improve our services as we continue to grow.

In March of 2024, my 91 year old father called Preferred Home Services to service his HVAC system. The technician's findings led to a decision to replace the failing system with a new one. My dad was also urged to replace his hot water heater and have his pipes replaced. I am not certain why the technicians looked under his house especially since the HVAC was the issue but they encouraged my dad to have this work done in addition to the new HVAC system. My dad was told that the new hot water heater which was moved from under the house to a new location in the garage would grant him a faster heat up of his water. The total cost of these two jobs resulted in $24, 000. I have spoken with the service representative to better understand PHS's pricing and to discuss a few other issues that concerned me including a banking situation that caused my dad to contact his bank with a fraudulent claim. My husband and I drove from Spartanburg to the main offices in North Charleston for a face-to-face conference which resulted in a better understanding of PHS's pricing and service module. We found our meeting very helpful! Thank you, Jamal! During this meeting an overview of the plumbing service was discussed and reviewed by an upstate technician. I also spoke with the plumbing supervisor of the upstate office and shared my biggest concerns of doing business with the elderly and the ethics that presents. I found him to be caring and thoughtful, but I feel that this report needs to be the voice of our senior parents. The bottom line is this company admits to being high priced. My dad chose PHS and the cost of the two services didn't cause my dad to finance for payment. He could afford it and cause him to miss a meal or be unable to pay his bills, but it did teach a lesson. As children of parents who are living longer lives, we need to be more watchful and help them get the most information such as second quotes and guide them in their decisions. PHS promises to do better. We'll see.

This has got to be the shadiest HVAC repair company out there. A technician was paid to do maintenance on 2 units. One unit was not working as efficiently as the other. I was told it was low on refrigerant. I asked to add refrigerant and I would pay for that. I was then told it is against the law because there might be a leak. I would have to pay to have the coil removed and search for leak…poor customer service and poor management.

We do apologize for any inconvenience but unfortunately Preferred Home Services is not able to just top off the refrigerant as your requested. Due to level of refrigerant loss and leak we are unable to recalibrate the refrigerant level until leak is stopped or fixed as of current laws.

The technician was exceptional and he fixed the problem by replacing the igniter.
I was just so shocked by the cost of that very small part I looked it up on ******. You can buy 3 for $10.99. We are livid to say the least. It cost us $400.00 just for that part. HELP

Preferred Home Services came into my home to replace toilets and hot water heater. They completed this job and did it well. Preferred does not itemize on the invoice parts and labor. I needed the cost of the water heater so I could be reimburse. When I asked twice for an itemized bill. They said they could not break down the charges.

I called them regarding septic field not draining causing the tank to overflow. They come out to inspect, finds the tank lid with a probe, and we dig up the lids. Once we pop it open you can see the fluids al the way to the top. he immediately states that the entire system will have to be replaced. I'm like, dude we at least have to pump out the contents to see the condition of the inside of the tank before one can make that assessment! So, they order a pump truck, and even as a "member" they charged me $499.00 to pump out the tank. Other mom and pops charge $350 (fyi).
Once the tank is pumped out now three technicians are on site and they give me a couple of quotes. $9500.00 for a complete new leach field install and an additional $6000.00 for a new tank. so that's nearly 3 x what I would expect!
So I called other companies and got 9 more quotes, and preferred came in at the top with 5 Star coming in at a whopping $17,500.00!!!! The others ranged from $3800-$17,500. Most of the mom and pop places were between 3800-6900.
Finally I found an honest mom and pop septic plumber through my *** ***** family network and was able to get the job done at a reasonable price of $5000.00 GURANTEED.
Someone please explain to me how these corporates services can charge the basic consumer 3 times the average cost? Go mom and pop!
