The SE exam CBT transition has been a disaster and there is no avenue to provide open feedback to hear back from NCEES on feedback from other test takers (customers).
Closed book SE exam does not represent real life structural engineering practice at all. What makes it worse is the poor testing software which requires candidates to read the codes on small half screens with endless scrolling, opening and closing the codes since only one can be opened at a time. Lot of the test time is spent in scrolling or opening/closing codes instead of actually solving problems.
California seismic exam is also computer based yet it allows bringing references. There is no justification for not allowing your own references.

Pretty poor experience with NCEES from a testing perspective. They don't make many accommodations for test takers and generally seem to only be looking to make money. Bad transition from pen and paper of the SE exam to CBT. Multi-state licensure process is an ordeal but at least you can keep track of everything through their system. To make changes to that though takes a lot of leg work and still having to work through each state's processes and boards so no time savings or hassle savings there.

NCEES used to be a lot more effective in confirming experience, providing feedback in a timely and efficient manner. Only in the past 2-3 years have things gotten much worse; demanding really prescriptive corrections to the format of work experience, taking an unreasonably long time to confirm even simple changes.

I am not sure what has changed in the recent years, but working with them has become *significantly* less pleasant.

Feedback on work experience descriptions do change over time as state licensure boards provide us with specific requirements and work experience must meet these requirements.. Self verification is always an option once the individual has met the required number of years of experience. Self verified work experience requires no NCEES review or waiting on someone to sign off. Most people have some self verified work and many people begin to self verify updates to their work experience when they have plenty of verified work experience in their account already.
Further, review times are based on how many entries we are receiving at the time, which is typically around two thousand. If someone is in a hurry, we encourage them to reach out to NCEES by emailing **************, or call or use our chat feature. We can expedite the review of any work experience entry at any time since most people going through this process are not in a hurry and we certainly want to cater to those that are in a hurry. This can happen in as little as an hour. Customers are made aware of all these features.
