l took my computer to the Tech Spot in Greenwood S.C. about three years ago for repair. The hard drive had failed and they put another on in my computer. About eight weeks ago, I took the computer back in for the same problem. It was repaired again and I paid them in good faith at a total of $315.64. Two weeks ago the hard drive failed again and I took it back in to the repair shop at which time the owner there told me it was time to replace the computer. He tried to sell me one there but all he had was used computers. I went to ****** *** in Greenwood and I purchased one there. I took my computer with the bad hard drive with me so he could transfer my data to the new computer. The manager there was aware of the problems I had and he took the hard drive out of my computer and discovered that the hard drive at The Tech Spot had put in the computer was made in 2016. He checked out the bad hard drive on a device called Crystal Disk Info and found out the hard drive was not only made in 2016 but it had 10,109 hours on it and had been turned on and off 4,726 times. I went to The Tech Spot and told the manager there what I had found out and he told me he did not put old or refurbished hard drives in computers. I told him that all I wanted was my money back and he refused. He did offer me a $100 credit in his store but that was unacceptable to me.Business Response

When the customer came in 8 weeks ago I informed him that his hard drive was under warranty and we would replace it for free but I recommended upgrading computers since his computer was over 8 years old.
he declined the sale of a refurbished computer and declined the warranty repair then went elsewhere. He stated to me that he went to CPR. In this complaint it says *********.
He came back stating another company said we put an old drive in the computer and he purchased a computer elsewhere.
I looked over the drive he brought me and it was an old drive. The drive wasn’t even the brand we install. I told him that wasn’t the case and apologized for the inconvenience but told him I couldn’t help him. We have proof of where we order our drives from.We offer a 90 day warranty on any repairs or sales and he was within that warranty. We do not offer refunds on things like this according to our policy but we are happy to honor our warranty and repair anything for free. If the device cannot be repaired then we offer a warranty. Also by taking his computer elsewhere it voided the warranty anyway.
Mr ********** has been a long time customer so I tried everything I could to satisfy him within reasonable means. We even gave him a $100 credit to try to alleviate his frustration.
he declined the in store credit as well. We could have even credited his entire bill from 8 weeks ago to purchasing a NEW computer. We would have had to order it but that’s something we can do.
He declined.Customer Answer

I purchased a ******* that they claimed to be a 2017 ******* *** but after having the computer a couple weeks and did some research I realized I was sold a 2014 ******* ***. I told the owner and at first he seemed to want to make it right but then he started denying the ******* coming from his store because the serial number wasn’t in his system. If the computer wasn’t it in his system then it should have never been sold. I have my receipt but it conveniently don’t have the year of the ******* on it. I paid $320 and he has refused to refund me. He is claiming that I’m trying to return an old ******* for money which is insane. Why would I buy a ******* if I already had one? Also that’s crack head behavior. I have all of the messages between me and him telling him everything and he is just blowing me off. I was sold the wrong product and I think he is aware of what he did and is trying to get away with it. I paid for a 2017 ******* *** but was sold a 2014 ******* *** and now they are basically denying everything. This is wrong and I just want my money back.Business Response

The customer purchased a 2017 ******* *** from us.
the customer then tried to return a 2014 ******* ***.
we initially denied the claim and denied the refund based on her returning a device that wasn’t what we sold her.
She claimed that is what we sold her so we matched the serial numbers from our system with the vendors serial numbers and our numbers matched up which confirmed she was trying to return a different model macbook. We explained that we did our due diligence and the serial number for the ******* she was trying to return doesn’t match up to our system. We have NEVER purchased a 2014 device because they aren’t supported by ***** anymore. We would not have a ******* that old in our store.
After going back and forth with her for several days we ended up refunding her just so we didn’t have to deal with her anymore. We will eat the loss on the ******* and just not do further business with her or her associates. We do not want to do business with those type of people.

I went to this store awhile back and told them what I needed. I wanted ram sticks and a ssd m2 installed into my system and I paid them close to $400. Once I got my pc back I took it home and everything was working fine until I ran into an issue so I got on the phone with someone who was a former employee and quit because he couldn’t handle scamming people anymore. He ended up telling me “ yeah all you’re parts came off **** and they were used and not what you actually asked for because he doesn’t let employees order parts” I also ended up finding out I had parts in there that were not name brand and there was one part I wanted that cost $135 and he installed one that was worth $30 and used. I had a lot of other people reach out to me and tell me that he scammed them too and they lost a lot of money to him. I have several other stories so if you guys want to hear them I can tell you.Business Response

Customer paid for ram upgrade and SSD replacement and windows 10 about 5-6 months ago.
he came in 3 months later and needed a power supply. We fixed all of his issues.during all of this he stated that one of our ex employees that was fired over 6 years ago for lack of knowledge and scamming employees by charging them for virus cleanups and not actually running anything except for the antivirus they had installed on their computer informed him that the parts were from “****”. I told him no we purchased our parts on ****** and would be happy to show him receipts to help calm his mind on that matter. Now apparently he is stating they are used and from **** which also isn’t true.
he contacted us 2 months later and stated that his power supply went out. I informed him it was under warranty and we would replace it. He sent me a photo of a power supply model number that was not what we installed. I informed him that was not what we installed and we have a copy of serial numbers and model numbers for all parts we install. he recanted his story and said oh that was an accident and he sent the wrong photo but never sent the correct photo or came to the store for a warranty replacement.
I told him I would refund him if he returned the correct power supply. He still hasn’t done so. We will not be refunding him at all now. He is outside of the warranty period at this point and the return period which is 90 days on warranty and 7 days on parts..
We gave him ample opportunities to return or we could warranty and he refused and posted negatively about us on ********.
