    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I am providing the only documents Wolf Spirit provided. I found this business via ********* and relied on reviews that were positive in nature. He never sent me a contract and communication was by phone and text.


    Further to my previous note, I understand the receipt from Wolf Spirit said no refunds for the job. But Randy and Wolf Spirit DID NOT DO THE JOB they were hired for and agreed to. PERIOD. They did HALF the job - and a bad one at that, in addition to failure to disclose MATERIAL information about the product (he NEVER told me it could or would arrive dormant or brown). I paid for a job to be done that was not anywhere CLOSE to being done or done right. 

    Randy sent to BBB an intentionally FALSE statement (he gave BB a refund policy description that was cooked up for purposes of this complaint and never shared with me, the customer, before nor during nor after the job). He sold me "damaged" goods in my mind since he never told me it would be or could be dead in appearance. That flies in the face of the primary purpose which was beautification of the lawn for curb appeal in selling the house. The fact that he didn't even estimate CLOSE to what was needed to do the full yard, shows his ineptness in the field.

    professional who said job was sloppy and not done right). 3/17 I discovered he just laid the sod strips OVER sprinklers without testing. I had to pay another person to some out to FIND them UNDER sod since Randy didnt bother checking. Randy told me to take up the brown sod with the supplier even though they req'd to speak with the purchaser, Randy. Job was INCOMPLETE and NOT AS PROMISED and Randy was unwilling to issue any partial refund. I LOST $ for a job that was NOT done. I'M THE ONE who pointed out the sprinkler issue & I'M THE ONE who paid to get the sod removed since he laid the WRONG kind (maybe he doesnt know the diff between Bermuda and Fescue). I trusted this landscaper to help beautify my lawn and instead, he cost me $3k+, time, and yard looks WORSE than before. He refused to issue any refund & I asked him to pick up the sod to save me from having to pay someone. He neglected to respond. Terrible way to conduct business & certainly does NOT stand by his work & isn't trustworthy.

    Please note that once you have booked an appointment with us it means that we have reserved time in our schedule
    exclusively for you. If you cancel your appointment less than [5 Business Days] before it is scheduled to take place, you will
    be subject to a [penalty/fee] of 10% of the final quoted price.
    To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide cancellation notice at least [5 business days] prior to your appointment.
    You can cancel or reschedule an appointment by emailing us at [***********************], texting [*************, or calling
    our office at [*************. As always please include name address and phone number in messages.
    Refund Policy: ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. If you are having sod put down, you have to bare in
    mind that sod is cut to order and delivered on a scheduled day and put down the same day it is delivered. The
    condition of the sod is fresh although it may be dormant at the time of arrival. This factors in what time of year and
    what type of grass is being put down. If you do not follow specific instructions for care and maintenance, WSLTC is
    not responsible for the outcome. The sod supplying company does not issue refunds for sod purchased. If you are
    having seed put down please remember it can take up to 8 weeks to establish. If you do not follow specific
    instructions for care and maintenance, WSLTC is not responsible for the outcome. If a job is not completed to your
    satisfaction after paying (i.e. you are out of town and pay online and return home to see you are not satisfied), we will
    come out and complete it to your satisfaction at no additional charge, again NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.
    Damages: Although we cannot predict what may or may not happen on any job, By signing the above agreement,
    you agree that if any MINOR damages occur during the proposed job, WSLTC will not be responsible for damages.
    I.E. small chips on wooden fence panels, underground sprinkler systems (since nobody knows the direction of the
    lines), pool liners that incur damage to stump grinding, etc On the very RARE occasion that a MAJOR damage that
    may incur will be addressed immediately and repaired in a timely manner. It is up to the sole discretion of the
    company owner to hire someone to fix the issue or to fix it himself. If a company is hired to fix the major damage, the
    bill will be sent directly to WSLTC. The customer is still responsible for payment of the job completed by WSLTC at
    the time of completion ONLY.
    Financing: Financing offer are for 3, 6, 9, or 12 month terms only. Terms are 50% of job total due on the last day
    of the job completion and the remaining 50% split into equal payments. Payments must be made with a credit or
    debit card on file. There are no credit checks and no interest.

     

     

    Verification from 3 separate companies that the grass is dormant, no where in any messges we have exchanged was fescue mentioned.  The original conversation was for the area that your other tree company messed up and for us to try and fix.

    On or about September 20, 2022, using the *********, Inc. app/service, I hired Wolf Spirit Lawn and Tree Care (WSLTC) to replace two wooden retaining walls on my property at ** ****** Dr, Greenville, SC. I paid a total of $6,080 for completion of both walls per our written agreement. The work was completed on or about October 13, 2022. A significant problem with the work surfaced several weeks later.

    Specifically, on January 4, 2023, the larger wall in the front yard catastrophically failed, resulting in full collapse of the wall. This is clearly an unacceptable outcome—WSLTC failed to perform a competent wall replacement job that I paid for. I must now hire a third party to fix the problem, due to their lack of expertise in this area (as outlined below) and my lack of confidence in their ability to successfully repair the problem.

    Speaking with a third party retaining wall contractor, the following issues/violations led to the collapse:
    • WSLTC failed to have the wall designed by a Registered South Carolina Professional Engineer; this is a requirement in Greenville County, SC for walls greater than four feet (4’) in height, and therefore, this would be a code violation
    • WSLTC failed to use proper drainage material to backfill the wall; topsoil was used, when gravel or similar is recommended to avoid saturation of the soil and excessive force on the wall
    • WSLTC failed to appropriately anchor the wall; anchors are recommended about every four feet for a wall of this size and length; the anchors present in the wall were not sufficient to sustain the force on the wall due to the improper drainage soil used

    I am now requesting a refund of $4500 for the cost of collapsed wall, which is 3/4 of the total cost of the job as the collapsed wall is about 3x the size of the smaller wall. Upon requesting a refund on January 5, 2023, WSLTC has failed to return my messages and clearly has no interest in providing the refund.
