The contract was signed in January 2020 and the work started around 2/23/2020. The total cost including labor and material was $21,275. The work included removing and hauling away the old deck that was rotting and sagging, installing a new Trex deck (materials $4150), installing new deck handrails (materials $1665), and installing a screened-in porch along with gutters and requested electrical needs. I texted him 9 months after the work was completed and told him the deck was still sagging. He asked for a picture, but a picture doesn't show the issue properly, and I instead asked him to come out and see it in-person (Jan 2021). He never came out. In 2022 I continued to pursue this and highlighted that the boards at the end were separating from the floor joist. His response was, and I quote his text "The deck repair was to add another joist next to next to the existing floor joist since they were sagging. The sag was already present before we started the work we did helped correct portion of dip. We never changed any girders nor old joist boards. As far as end piece that released we could fix those." I contracted to install a new deck and porch that included reinforcing (reshoring) the existing joist. His work did not correct the sag as promised. I did not invest in new Trex decking boards to be installed on a known sagging situation. Nobody in their right mind would do that. This contractor will not come out to my house, he does not respond to text or voice mail. I have all my text attempts documented on my phone. I have offered a way to resolve this and told him I was willing to pay for joist material and he pay for the labor. I never got a response.
