  About 11 months ago, my husband and I contracted with Moses M******* (M&M Concrete Services) to replace our front sidewalk (drive to porch), driveway, and add a second parking spot to the right of the existing drive (widen drive at curve). He was referred to us by a friend. We paid $6,800 for the work, immediately upon completion and my husband even tipped every worker, including Moses. The work initially looked good, although they left a huge mess surrounding where the forms were and I had to personally add dirt, shovel dirt to fill and pick up lots of small concrete pieces all around. We noticed problems with the work a few weeks after completion. Small "dents" or pock marks started to appear and the edge of the drive (where it meets the street) was not evenly finished, so small pieces of concrete broke off and I had to pick them up. I called Moses myself and told him I was unhappy with the job. He never came to fix the pock marks, so I had my husband call and finally Moses appeared and put some sort of filler in the holes. I called back after he did that (we weren't home when he appeared) and told him that was unacceptable...we could see the patches. I told him it looked like they used bad concrete on the lower part of the drive, because that's where the problem was. I told him I wanted that repoured. He promised to put a finish over the top of it so it would look good. He never came. Then I noticed a huge crack and a triangle portion in another area has broken completely free. Moses said "concrete's gonna crack". My husband and I have called at least 10 times since then, with Moses saying he'd come, he couldn't get workers, he'd been out of town, etc. He promised my husband 2 weeks ago he'd come out last week to fix it as he had a job in the neighborhood and he never appeared. I left him a message saying I was going to contact the BBB, and have still heard nothing. He needs to repair his shoddy work or refund us so we can pay someone else to."

  I received your letter dated 11/17/23 today (11/28/23).  It stated that I should advise you of my satisfaction in this case.  I am not satisfied at this point.  Moses came to my house around November 9 and discussed the problems with his work with my wife, Kate.  He said, regarding the "triangle" of concrete that had broken away that he was "waiting to get some real concrete" from another job and then he'd come by and repour that piece.  He did so November 20.  He also said on November 9 that he was going to add a layer of  Ardex (a "concrete overlay or topping") to the bottom third of my driveway, to cover all the pits and cracking.  Kate asked him if that would be a long-lasting fix and stated that she'd rather he re-pour the whole thing.  She asked him how he thought the drive would look in 10 years if this is how it looks after a few months and reminded him that we paid him $6,800 for the work he did and that we were very unhappy.  He stated again that Ardex would be a proper "fix" and that he'd be back to pour it.  He has not returned and I have not received any communication from him as of this date (November 28, 2023).
